Popular Post Kev Cane Posted January 5, 2014 Popular Post Posted January 5, 2014 I think if we are honest Russ the days of the all-nighter is fast dwindling with less and less hardcore nighter goers every year.....the oldies only venues will last longer but you are not going to influence the DJ's one bit as they are rooted firmly in a certain decade. The best record recommended so far that would IMO have a chance of gaining exposure to a wider audience is the Notations "That Girl" and some of the Soul Junction releases but I doubt it because o0of the mentality of collectors and Dj's. Notations, great record Chalky, and worthy of your opinion, this, however, no chance of a venue outing is my favourite, been looking for ages but its tough and maybe out of my price bracket, think a lot of Sweet Soulers who haven't heard it will love it, therefore a hit IMHO The Whole Truth-Can you lose-EFE Kev 6

Popular Post Scotters Posted January 5, 2014 Popular Post Posted January 5, 2014 (edited) Bit late looking through this thread but for couple hours today really enjoyed listening to / looking up some of the tracks posted, thanks. I always look forward to each new release on Soul Junction, Kent, Numero, Daptone, Timion, Secret Stash labels etc etc.... where so many AMAZING (often prev unreleased) tracks finally get to be enjoyed at a good price. Still enjoying the Al Supersonic and Teenagers LP from last year, particularly the track "Under Construction"... Link here to listen to it for anyone interested: https://alsupersonicandtheteenagers.bandcamp.com/track/under-construction An older 45 which may or may not be too well known and I'd love to hear out somewhere maybe in a smaller room, I have to thank Jason Stirland at SoulStacks for finding me lovely condition copy this last year. Okay, not exactly a "top tip" but certainly got my attention when I first heard it a couple of years ago, and still does each week! Marc Forrest Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Last one form me today. Love to play this early doors or late (last spot). I just love the way Carl Holmes aka Sherlock Holmes (of "Standing At A Standstill" ) imitates Marvin Gayes "Whats Going On" towards the end.

Peter Hi Peter, Al Perkins 'Yes My Goodness Yes' actually came out twice by Al Perkins, originally on ATCO then later with strings overlayed on BUDDAH. Sean Hampsey Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 Nice version - one to look out for . German only b side ? Yes Andy. Its on the 'Maybe' Roulette LP which is what I used to play it from 30 odd years ago, Bradford Queens Hall etc. But then I later came across the German Bellaphon 45. With the interest in the unreleased Motown versions, which turned up a few years ago, I feel this certainly has legs, in a storming 'old school' Northern stylee! Sean 1

Sean Hampsey Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 and Al Perkins recorded it twice - on Atco and Buddah. I just mentioned that above Mike. To be honest, I've always felt the Buddah 45 was the same vocal take as the ATCO 45, with a changed backing track and strings overlayed, rather than a seperate recording. Sean
