Russ Vickers Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 (edited) Wondered how much this goes for these day's. Also any history too, who played first & where would be good if any one knows, unless its never really had an airing which I very much doubt. Also, do you rate it for those who dont know it here goes: https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Phyllis_Brown_-_Oh_Baby.ram Play at full volume with bass cranked & hit the floor (well kitchen floor maybe) Thanks for any info............enjoy. Pete S Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 Was usually 100-125, then 150, then loads turned up in 'the find' and there was one on Ebay every week. But I'd want 150 for mine. I think John Vincent was the first to try and break it, I have him playing it on a Wigan tape (2nd anniversary) but I don't think I ever heard it played out, ever. She made a couple of other nice records as well didn't she, I've got something on my mind being one..
Guest bertie97 Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 Been playing this for the last six months or so,around Manchester.Great tune,Lots of miles in this superior dancer.

Russ Personally I much prefer the b side 'why'. a quality track as a bonus if you buy it for the 'oh baby' side, but to my taste much cooler. Edited June 24, 2006 by mik parry
Tony Smith Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 I thought it was a £50 record, used to be hard to shift.
Russ Vickers Posted June 25, 2006 Author Posted June 25, 2006 I thought it was a £50 record, used to be hard to shift. I wasnt sure Tony hence the post, I quite like it as a tune, but didnt know owt about it. BTW how you doin mate. Russ
Guest Simon Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 I quite rate it & the flip 'Why' also, i've played both sides at dos before & neither have received much warmth from the crowd, probably the sort of record a 'big' dj needs to start playing then i'm sure everyone will love it The only other person i've heard play it out in recent times was Cookie at a 'Southern soul movement' do a couple of years ago, don't think anyone danced to it then either!
