Pete S
British... RnB label... only did about 6 records. Don't be daft, they did over 50 releases before changing their name to Ska Beat. Link to comment Social source share
Pumpkinseed
the question is rarest label, not your favorite rare label. artco releases are way rarer than teri de releases. Did I ever mention it was my favorite label ? , how many copies have you seen for sale of " Jimmy Gresham & Leonard Jewell " ? ................don't tell me .....dozens of copies . So stick that in ya pipe and smoke it ! Link to comment Social source share
Soulhawk
mars-la-tour wasn't even close to being a soul label, right? seems like it was a custom studio / label that released mostly country this thread is pretty silly Link to comment Social source share
Pete S
seems like it was a custom studio / label that released mostly country this thread is pretty silly Very silly. There must be thousands of labels who released just one record, a soul record, then folded, they are all the 'rarest label'. 1 Link to comment Social source share

boba
this thread is pretty silly I agree. I think it makes more sense for labels that had larger runs of records that are mostly all rare though. That's not gonna work out here though. Swaggy
I know that for you Brits, "rare" is what has survived to this day, not what existed during the years of the records' releases and the few years later. But, it's hard for me to think of records as rare, when I saw many of them back in the day. Yes Rob we take rare as meaning what we can get our hands on now you had more access when they were new releases, i would say Shrine is the rarest label for the shear amount of quality releases it made during a short life span, Talk has it that when Shrine pressed their singles they were sent to a distribution warehouse which burnt to the ground thus all those were lost and never repressed due to cost. Frankie Crocker
How about Lou-Neita Records from College Park, Georgia - tracks by The Bishop featured in Manny's Million Dollars of Rare Soul book; Thelma Wilson, rare and seen in a company sleeve; and Gina Hill, lowly valued in Manship #6 on a green and orange label design. Not aware of other releases on the label - are there any? Link to comment Social source share
Dazz
Assault, before Shrine Linda & Pretenders 5 records that I know about but must be more due to the numbering Link to comment Social source share

Shrine is looking like a mid-size indie label these days with weekly auctions and plenty available at set sale. Sure it is a highly collectible label with some mega scarce releases, but no longer the rarest label as it was billed twenty years ago. The thread has merits as we are kicking around rare labels with small numbers of releases, hopefully of interest to some of the collectors out there. Tony Smith
Yes. That is absolutely true. As far as we know, they had only the 2 releases. So, I guess we could call Phelectron a TWO-off. 3 off Robb, there is another Terri Goodnight release https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeMYGq1Oz90 Link to comment Social source share
Robbk
3 off Robb, there is another Terri Goodnight release https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeMYGq1Oz90 Not bad at all. Well, I still think Phelectron is one of the rarest Soul labels as all 3 releases have only a handful or less of known copies. Link to comment Social source share
Tricky
Ooh Dear. Phelectron one of the rarest soul labels. Phelectron one of the worst soul labels period. IMO! Never rated the first two but now Please dont find any more on this label. Link to comment Social source share
Chalky
Assault, before Shrine Linda & Pretenders 5 records that I know about but must be more due to the numbering There are 18 listed in R&B Indies with missing numbers (at least three) so possibly more.
