Andybellwood Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 wasn't this also (re)issued on one of those (not 100 club) mod club anniversary 45 s ?
Chippy Minton Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 wasn't this also (re)issued on one of those (not 100 club) mod club anniversary 45 s ? Yeah, was issued as a Mousetrap 45... 1
Andybellwood Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Yeah, was issued as a Mousetrap 45...thats it - what was the flip?
Chippy Minton Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 thats it - what was the flip? A German psych/freakbeat track - The Dukes - I'm an unskilled worker originally from '68/'69. 1
Chippy Minton Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 So whats the big deal with this one then? Just been a massive spin on the mod scene for the past few years, Pete, and only issued on 45 in Sweden, apparently...
Pete S Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Just been a massive spin on the mod scene for the past few years, Pete, and only issued on 45 in Sweden, apparently... Wonder how the hell Marc Almond got to hear it way back in 83 / 84?
Chippy Minton Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Wonder how the hell Marc Almond got to hear it way back in 83 / 84? It was widely available as an album track in the UK, but as it doesn't really do it for me, I've had some joy winding up a couple of mates who get all precious about it when I tell 'em I actually prefer the Almond version!
Guest normokeh Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 (edited) So whats the big deal with this one then? don't know Pete ' but its real crap. Edited December 10, 2013 by normokeh

Pete S Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Flip of this very rare Swedish only release is "Love ladder" wich is a great dancer aswell! That came out on UK Polydor. Very fast.
Guest penny Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 (edited) That came out on UK Polydor. Very fast. I had a uk emidisc with 'down on the subway' / 'love ladder' off ebay around 2000. Dont know if it was authentic mid 60s or not. Sold it soon after when I got the swedish 45. jack hammer's discography must be one of the most chaotic, weird international releases all over the shop. How about his "Ode To A Discotheque" (UK Polydor), so obscure people look blank at you when you mention it.. 2
Cover-up Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 How about his "Ode To A Discotheque" (UK Polydor), so obscure people look blank at you when you mention it.. I don't! Sure Mik will have this tucked away somewhere, too... Great record, crazy but great.
Cover-up Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Down In The Subway finished at £560 and that was without the picture sleeve, oof!
