Roburt Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Another recent CD release from 'History of Soul' is their "Witchcraft In The Air' 2-fer CD compilation. This features 53 tracks from Detroit's early soul output, including the title track from Bettye LaVette. All cuts date from 1957 to 1962 so are out of copyright and some are rare on original 45. Some sound quite dated but others have stood the test of time quite well. ........... MORE INFO HERE .............. https://www.historyofsoul.net/newyork.html#detroit You can listen to snippets of every track & buy the package (£7.27 incl free P&P) from Amazon UK .......... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Witchcraft-The-Detroit-Soul-1957-1962/dp/B00G3HPSNS/ref=pd_bxgy_m_h__text_y
Premium Stuff Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Thanks mate - that looks like an essential purchase - no doubt about it Some crackers on there I already know and several others I'm looking forward to hearing Cheers Richard
Wilxy Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Purchased a copy when released, and whilst several of the tracks were, as Roburt mentions, a tad dated, and many were "new on the ear"!!! I thoroughly enjoyed the compilation overall somewhat
Biggordy Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 The History Of Soul label is amazing. Every release so far is recommended and are a "history of soul" indeed. Shame that it'll come to and end with the 50 year copyright laws reverting to 70 from next year.
Marc Forrest Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 (edited) Wont buy that one as I got all of them records at home already (that was my moment of showing off for this month LOL) but the NYC CD on the first screen will see me as a buyer! Must be good if the current Hip City spin Paul Walters is included ( LOL ) ! Edited December 11, 2013 by Marc Forrest
