Instantly recognised the fabulous horn intro to Billy Butler & Chanters "I can't work no longer" on Drive Time on the way home, surprise to hear a northern classic on mainstream news programme, someone was clever enough to use it as backing to a news piece about the chancellors November statement, clever given the politics and title!

Anyone on here in that BBC production team? If so schedule more northern between 4.30 and 6 every day, ta, Lee

Funny choice, as his statement has everybody under 50 working longer  .

Is that irony Alanis?

There's definitely someone in the BBC with Northern Soul in their blood - I'm hearing it in all kinds of programmes - time he or she was outed!

All this reminds me I heard Jock Mitchell - Not a chance in a million, in a café in Oakhampton a few years back, it was on the radio not CD, odd thing was the café staff clearly weren't Soulies but they were merrily going about my full English appreciating the soulful backing.......... sunny side up!
