Lyde, Fisher & Giles - Serve me right to suffer - Hab / EX / £400 (White label promo of this killer midtempo modern soul dancer from these Evanston, Chicago guys.)

Paul Jones - Let her love grow / If love could be with us all - JAB / VG+ / £375 (Super rare Chicago disc and a fabulous double header! Funky modern soul dancer backed with sublime crossover. Reversed labels. Vinyl has some light marks, plays well but not perfect.)

Right Direction - Midnight rhythm - Antaries / VG / £225 (KILLER modern soul, one of my all time favourites and a oh so rare Chicago disc. This copy, as with the few others I’ve seen, is pretty beat up. It plays with some light surface noise and light pops in mostly present in the intro then clears out nicely. Still an enjoyable listening and fine for DJing. Soundfile is the actual copy for sale.)

Santiago — Feeling good — Bam Buu / EX / £175 (Superb modern soul dancer getting some recognition lately but still under the radar for most. Very rare modern soul out of Philly.)

 

Haywood Tucker - I'm yours - Budweiser Showdown / EX/EX / £175 (Killer modern soul dancer from this Atlanta, Georgia artist. Slight warp not affecting play.)

Veda Brown - I had a fight with love - Rav / VG / £175 (The rare version of the Ann Sexton album track. A superb crossover dancer! Vinyl has many light marks, plays with light surface noise in the intro because clearing out nice. Still presents a very enjoyable listening and is fine for DJing etc.)

Tony Lampkin - Trouble being a man - SRI / EX / £110 (Highly sought after and his rarest, a killer slowie.)

Tony Lampkin - He's a better liar than me - Jemkl Soul / EX / £50 (Purple text copy of this classic.)

Lost Weekend - Trouble / Little black child - Lost Weekend / EX / £60 (Low-fi soul from Gary, Indiana. Rare first label before Usa and hard to find in this condition!)

Philadelphia Story - Gotta get back - H&L / EX / £50 (Pristine copy with company sleeve of this rare issue only Philly dancer. One of the rarest Philly discs. Great stuff!!)

Arrivals - Wrapped up in your love - 20th Century / EX / £50 (Lovely, highly sought after, Holland-Dozier-Holland modern soul dancer which is only found on rare issue copies. Had great interest in the copy I last listed. Flipside has remains of small white sticker. Apart from that a flawless copy that comes in company sleeve.)

 

Marian Love - Can't forget about you, baby - Capitol / EX / £50 (Superb copy of this evergreen soul floater.)

Phillip Mitchell - I'm gonna build California all over the world / The world needs more people than you - Shout / VG+ / £45 (Demo of this essential double header which is so tricky to find on US copy. Both sides are just lovely soul music suitable for the dance floor. Record has some light superficial marks not affecting play.)

Purple Reign - Love shortage - Buddah / EX / £8 (Same song as the T.U.M.E. track that is now expensive. I prefer this one, and it's still cheap. Such a feelgood dancer!)

Philly Devotions - I was a lonely man - Columbia / EX / £8 (Lovely Philly dancer of the highest quality. Label has a small round white sticker.)

Anglo-Saxon Brown - Straighten it out - Atlantic / EX / £8 (Unbelievably good mellow groove out of Philly. Epic stuff!)

Eli's Second Coming - Love chant Pt 1 / Pt 2 - Silver Blue / EX / £6 (Superb one off their hard to find album. Rarer vinyl copy, label has a small round white sticker.)

Septimus - We want a piece of the pie - Chosen Few / EX/EX / £250 (Tough independent disco/modern soul album. Holds but dancers and slowies, all with heavy basslines. As new copy still in shrink.)

Willie & the Mighty Magnificents — Very soulful — All Platinum / EX/VG+ / £225 (Super rare follow up to their On Scene ’70 album. Somewhat of a ghost record, can’t even find a trace of a copy being sold online, and hardly a mention of an original copy. With “Get away from me girl” alternative version to the Willie & West one, “Sunday” etc. Cover has light ring wear.)

 

100% Pure Poison - Coming right at you - EMI / EX/EX / £200 (Rare groove classic! Tiny sticker on back.)

Rayfield Reid & the Magnificents - Treat you right - Ken-Tone / EX/EX / £200 (Superb album! Cover in shrink, vinyl as new only flaw is upper right corner is a bit wavy probably due to exposure to water. Still looks super clean!)

Ervin Groves - Composer in paradise - GME / EX/VG+ / £60 (Cover has some light general wear. Mixed artist album with cuts by Viola Wills, Lani Groves, Garnett Scott, Dede Copeland, Yvonne Butler and Mary Staten.)

 

J.P. Rodgers Jr. - Good taste in love - Incalculation / EX / £50 (1982 modern soul album which was released in a generic 12 inch sleeve. With the modern soul/disco dancers “All my lovin” and “I enjoy your love”.)

 

Jaedes - s/t - Athena / EX/EX / £50 (Classic group/crossover soul album. Superb copy, only flaw is a cut out hole.)

Clifton Dyson - Slow your body down - After Hour / EX/NM / £50 (As new copy in shrink, first press original. With the modern dancer “I’m giving up” and the superb slowie “Hypnotize” which was also made by Ci Ci on Creative Funk 45 + 12”.)

Gang's Back - s/t - Handshake / EX/VG+ / £45 (Boogie album which also holds a couple of nice slowies. Cover has programmer sticker and tear from removed sticker. One label side also has a tear from removed sticker.)

The Best of Both Worlds - I want the world to know - Calla / EX/VG / £20 (1975 modern soul album with Winfield Parker on lead vocals. Standout track for me is “Lost in a shuffle of love”. Cover has ring wear and a 3cm upper seam split.)

Juggy Murray Jones - Inside America (Disco) - Jupiter Jazz / EX/VG+ / £20 (Cover just shy of EX, has a few light dirt stains on lower front cover and name and date written on back with a ballpoint pen.)

Demo Cates - Memories of moments - Scorpio /  VG+/VG+ / £15 (Cover has price written, light general wear, middle seam split and creased corner. Still looks neat. Vinyl is clean but has some light marks from being taken in and out of the sleeve. With the lovely title track 2 stepper + the even smoother “Will I see her again”.)
