Soulman
I've really got my doubts about this. It's impossible to capture what we had and I was very disappointed with the book. Only time will tell I guess. 2 Link to comment Social source share

Soulman
I've still not been able to finish the book, I keep going at it but it's just so drugs, drugs, drugs, it wears you out... Exactly Pete and it's not what it was about. It was a factor, but that's all. Like you I started but didn't finish as it became tedious from someone who didn't do the drugs and if the film focuses in the same way then once again the scene will be tarred with the same brush that must now becoming devoid of bristles. 2 Link to comment Social source share
Seano
I did finish the book and enjoyed it, but totally agree that the emphasis on drugs really grates. I guess if I'd written the book then people who were mates with those into drugs would have exactly the same criticisms, feeling that it ignored the drugs side. Certainly keen to see the film anyway. 1 Link to comment Social source share
Mal C
Bit busy for a final draft I'd say,,, they have kinda shot their bolt using that really strong image on the book, that said, if they did use it, or a selection, its instantly recognizable isn't it, just what a poster should be.. Steve G
As far as I know Elaine & Co are currently seeking a distributor who'll put the film in cinemas. I also heard that Steve Coogan plays a small role as a schoolteacher, so don't worry, he's not a northern soul dancer. 1 Link to comment Social source share
Quinvy
After all the hype it just seems to have gone very quiet. I hope it does get a release and soon, or the interest that was generated recently will be lost. 3 Link to comment Social source share
Popular Post Garethx
Hi That's an image which was used on the film's sales agent's website and I'm pretty sure the version on there shouldn't have the 'Googan' typo. It was intended to be thumbnail-sized. I'd be amazed if it was the final poster. Expect an announcement regarding a release date pretty soon. The last parts of the process after post-production can be really difficult for independent films, particularly in the current financial climate. Rest assured that the things which have delayed release dates have all been geared toward the film getting the widest possible cinema release on terms which give it a fighting chance at the box office. The way some people on here talk you'd assume any of this was an easy process. It most assuredly isn't. I'm sure everyone involved would like to thank everyone for their patience. I'm sure they'd also like to thank Mike and the membership here for keeping the project (in its various forms) in the spotlight. It's been hugely appreciated. 6 Link to comment Social source share
Quinvy
I wasn't trying to undermine how difficult it is to get a film into the cinemas these days. I was merely making the point that with all the recent good publicity, it would be a shame to lose that impetus. The general public, or sheep as I like to think of them, need to be bombarded with media and celebrity coverage so they think that it's the next big thing. 2 Link to comment Social source share
Guest Byrney
Whereas I thought the book thrashed all the other ones on the subject. Honest depictions and a completely different take from people who were there; warts and all accounts which yes included drugs, a subject that seems to be nicely airbrushed from many other texts. It captured the Stafford / post Stafford attitude which all other.. Ahem... 'definitive' books ignored or at best lightly touched before heading back to Station Road or fast forwarding to Stoke. Perhaps you had to be there during the post Wigan period to be interested in it... Sad if that's true but I'm beginning to suspect for many it is. Looking forward to the film and salute Elaine and co for the years they've put into this. Edited November 24, 2013 by Byrney Link to comment Social source share

Popular Post Russ Vickers
Ok, I wrote a note to self, I tried to resist the temptation, but hey bollox to it....DRUGS, DRUGS, DRUGS were every where, every single person I knew on the scene was involved in some way, whether people like it or not, or whether all these years later they are willing to admit it or not, Amphetamines were the fuel that drove the scene, for years people have tried to pretend they never did it (cos the music was enough lol), it wasnt really that bad (yeah, right !) etc, etc....even RW wrote that they wernt a major part of the WC experience....YES THEY WERE...there, I said it...my book has hopefully arrived today, it has taken about 6 weeks to get to Baghdad, I will read it cover to cover tonight & report back....however, the mere fact that the subject has been broached honestly (?) is a bonus IMHO.... I now await the onslaught of the 'me Mam just packed me sarnies' brigade to once again claim the 'music was enough'....but no matter how many now refuse to recognise the seedier side of the scene, it happened live with it, dont try to cover it up... Russ Vickers
I should add that I do not condone the use of illegal drugs in any way at all, its not big & its not clever, but it happened & it was prolific. Popular Post Ady Croasdell
I was lucky to see an advance screening of the film for music business reasons. I was nervous on elaine's behalf as I know how much she has put into this but my fears were unjustified, it's a stunning film that works on all levels. Its something the scene can feel proud of. I do have a few reservations about the book but it's as good as any so far and much better than the vast majority. 14 Link to comment Social source share

Guest Paul
I wasn't expecting a release until after xmas anyway. I'm sure it will be a good film, I know it features some good music but we shouldn't expect 100% realism. If it was an accurate historic portrayal they would have had to find actors who look as young and slim and stylish and sexy as we all did in those days. That would have been a very difficult task. Probably. Link to comment Social source share
