Premium Stuff Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 The JM tease has changed to: The world’s RAREST Northern Soul Classic ORIGINAL! That rather changes the direction of play then.... Suggests this is something that is available somehow but not as an original and official vinyl release (maybe just on tape, as an acetate or a bootleg). Something like "Sweet Sherry" on a 45 (but then I have been told there is an original US vinyl 45 of this, so maybe that's not the best example). Cheers Richard
Mickjay33 Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 it might be an unplayed copy of the snake??????? now that has got to be rare 2
Jim G Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 It might be something less obvious like A stock copy of Chubby Checker "You Just Don't Know" USA Parkway Just guessing, don't shoot me!
Pete S Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 What about an uncovered copy of Diane Lewis - You Ain't Got A Chance on a real release? 3
KevH Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 I'm going to back a previous post. Jnr McCants - Try me - King issue.
Guest wigan bob Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Sorry but I mark Chalky right on this. Plenty of records never got beyond demo on major labels. Ever seen one Bob? no but i no some one who saw it at wigan back in the day
Speedlimit Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 ok it suggests a double sided classic oldie that wa either thought not to exist or acetate only so how about EDDIE HOLMAN " WHERE IM NOT WANTED C/W HURT on either Parkway or Harthon
Jim G Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 And JM states he has it in hands " at long last" which suggests it is something not even he has seen, sold or held before, which might rule out some of our suggestions? Anyway back to my earlier question, when is he revealing it ?
Quinvy Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Who bloody cares? Just like all the times before there will be cries of "uh, is that all. Common as f**k" And Stuart Bennet swears blind that he had a Chubby Checker - Just Don't Know on the orange and yellow issue. Reckons Guy Hennigan had it off him in the 80's. 1

I don't care, as I'd never be able to join in the auction, though it is intriguing. But nearly 3000 views, howzabout that for free publicity? 2
Steve G Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Hey loosen up you crabs that are moaning about this thread, it's only a bit of fun trying to guess what it might be. 3
Sheldonsoul Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 I reckon he's bought the Chris Clark do I love you test press off Brady for 3/4 grand to sell on to another mug abroad for a tidy profit ha ha

Guest Paul Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 The tease for 2013 is: The world’s RAREST Northern Soul Record will feature HERE to end 18th. December in time for your best Christmas ever! The suspense of holding this 45 is killing me Dear Santa, I was starting to think my life was dull and had no purpose but now that something truly exciting is on the horizon I feel there is so much to live for that I'm starting to feel young again and there's only 26 more days and nights to go before the day of blissful enlightenment but of course it would be an almighty tragedy if the world came to a sudden end and we all went to our lonely graves in complete ignorance of what this mystical holy grail thing was all about and we could never truly rest in peace because of the burning frustration and we would feel so empty and unfulfilled that our sad lives had all been for nothing and then to make things EVEN WORSE we found out that we couldn't even claim refunds because we'd lost our receipts and we knew damn well that we should have kept them in a safe place but we probably threw them in the bin by mistake...
Marc Forrest Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 (edited) lets try to put a structure into our guessing, shall we ? a record that is (amongst) THE rarest of the rare a record that is widely accepted as a / THE classic northern soul record a double-sider a record JM never owned or had for sale All Shrine records and FW do not qualify as JM already had/auctioned them, Little Johnny Hamilton and the Creators aint no doublesider and same applies to Kell "Law Against A Heartbreaker" Osborne The Butlers with Frankie Beverley "Because Of My Heart / Want To Feel hat I`m Wanted" Rouser The Magnetics "Lady In Green / Heart Made Of Stone" Bonnie and of course Sandy Golden out f these three and bearing recent happenings (= finds) in mind I vote for Sandy Golden ;) Edited November 22, 2013 by Marc Forrest 2
Tony Smith Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 (edited) He had Frank Beverly on Rouser on auction earlier in the year Marc! Also he had Magnetics-Bonnie as a set sale item years back (150 I think?) Edited November 22, 2013 by Tony Smith
Marc Forrest Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 He had Frank Beverly on Rouser on auction earlier in the year Marc! Also he had Magnetics-Bonnie as a set sale item years back (150 I think?) magnetics at 150 gbp must be donkeys ago ? if he had the rouser 45 it MUST be Sandy Golden...
Premium Stuff Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Also he had Magnetics-Bonnie as a set sale item years back (150 I think?) Yes, I bought that one ... I wish 1
Benji Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 lets try to put a structure into our guessing, shall we ? a record that is (amongst) THE rarest of the rare a record that is widely accepted as a / THE classic northern soul record a double-sider a record JM never owned or had for sale All Shrine records and FW do not qualify as JM already had/auctioned them, Little Johnny Hamilton and the Creators aint no doublesider and same applies to Kell "Law Against A Heartbreaker" Osborne The Butlers with Frankie Beverley "Because Of My Heart / Want To Feel hat I`m Wanted" Rouser The Magnetics "Lady In Green / Heart Made Of Stone" Bonnie and of course Sandy Golden out f these three and bearing recent happenings (= finds) in mind I vote for Sandy Golden ;) None of the records you mention deserve such a pre-auction hype (IMO). My money is on a well known Northern oldie on a format that nobody knew it exists (yawn). On the other hand, something like the alreaday mentioned Diane Lewis c/up on a proper release copy, yummy yummy.
Ian Dewhirst Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Wow. Looks like Sandy Golden is a hot tip! Please believe me when I say I'm gonna pick up the phone and get ANYONE who was involved in this release on the phone and ask where the other 495 copies are.....? Ian D
Tony Smith Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 magnetics at 150 gbp must be donkeys ago ? if he had the rouser 45 it MUST be Sandy Golden... Yes it was a long time ago, mate, I think Soul Bowl had one the same week too! and the price might have been £75!!
Premium Stuff Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 OK I'm getting carried away now - I reckon it's Little Ann - What Should I Do - on a real Topper 45 How cool would that be Richard
Premium Stuff Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Or Wheelsville 105, or any number of missing Detroit numbers

Chalky Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 Who says it is a double sider? John doesn't. He always puts the flip in his auction headings. 2
Guest sharmo 1 Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 I've got a feeling we're going to be let down by this in the end , something stunningly rare but not brilliant , just like the Weather on bunky for instance legendary and almost impossibly rare but what can you do with that , that you can't do with the issue of it. It's gonna be a cracker but I've got a feeling about this .O.K. balls on the chopping block I don't think it's Sandy Golden.
Steve G Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 Since it changed to "classic" I tend to agree with you Simon…Lorraine will be disappointed I know that….
Guest sharmo 1 Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 Since it changed to "classic" I tend to agree with you Simon…Lorraine will be disappointed I know that…. Hi Steve yes mate when the word classic appeared I thought " anti climax " hope your all fine Sir see you soon.

Staceys Dad Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 Could it be Billy Woods Let Me Make You Happy WHITE DEMO Betty Boo Say It Isnt It So are you saying betty boo says it isnt so ...how would she know..does she even know john manship .... i`ll get me coat.........
Marc Forrest Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 is two plus two a classic? its a real rare double sider in good condition, col not rare enough..even I have a copy.
Marc Forrest Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 Who says it is a double sider? John doesn't. He always puts the flip in his auction headings. john himselfs says so by using about six question marks around "c/w"... now if thats not intended to force further curiousity and interest I dont know what else.. sticking with Sandy Golden as long as no one mentions another double-sided, rarest of the rare northern soul "holy grail" that JM didnt already auction during his past. Wait, what about Patrinell Staten ? Did he ever auction one ?
Quinvy Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 not rare enough..even I have a copy. Come on Marc you must have one of the best collections on the rare soul scene.
Dobber Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 lets try to put a structure into our guessing, shall we ? a record that is (amongst) THE rarest of the rare a record that is widely accepted as a / THE classic northern soul record a double-sider a record JM never owned or had for sale All Shrine records and FW do not qualify as JM already had/auctioned them, Little Johnny Hamilton and the Creators aint no doublesider and same applies to Kell "Law Against A Heartbreaker" Osborne The Butlers with Frankie Beverley "Because Of My Heart / Want To Feel hat I`m Wanted" Rouser The Magnetics "Lady In Green / Heart Made Of Stone" Bonnie and of course Sandy Golden out f these three and bearing recent happenings (= finds) in mind I vote for Sandy Golden ;) actually marc the only shrine 45 he has never had or auctioned is jd bryant, that could be regarded as a double sider and is a classichowever not the rarest record by any stretch! 1
Chalky Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 (edited) john himselfs says so by using about six question marks around "c/w"... now if thats not intended to force further curiousity and interest I dont know what else.. sticking with Sandy Golden as long as no one mentions another double-sided, rarest of the rare northern soul "holy grail" that JM didnt already auction during his past. Wait, what about Patrinell Staten ? Did he ever auction one ? No he doesn't, not necessarily. He always lists both sides, two great asides or not, so all he has to do is fill in the blanks, or questions marks in this case. As for PS, he was there as far as I know when the first was found by/with Keb. Edited November 23, 2013 by chalky
Marc Forrest Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 (edited) Seconded dobber, although I thought he already once auctioned a copy ? Theres definitely one lined up via that complete shrine run he currently is auctioning bit by bit. so yeah, another strong possibility here mate! Edited November 23, 2013 by Marc Forrest
Chalky Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 If a record already exists in another original format, issue or demo, how can it be the rarest northern soul record? If it's the rarest Northern Soul record it has to be a one off, maybe one other known or exist on an acetate.
