Hello Soul folks,

does somebody here has a clue where to find information on the net, about which company sleeves fit to the correct 45?

Thx in advance + best,

Chris

John Manship's website has a lot for sale in the sleeves section.

Many of the descriptions have info on which sleeves fit which record label design - e.g if there were different designs used by a manufacturer in different countries or at different dates.

Cheers

Richard

Someone should really do a book about this. If they haven't already. It's in a position to be a definitive subject.

Has worth in lots of different spheres, soul fans, collectors and designers. To be honest it would be the only design reference any graphics student would ever need.

There is a book called,"The UK 45 RPM Record Sleeves: A Collector's Guide To 7" Company Sleeves" by John Delaney...saw it in a shop in Tokyo a few weeks ago...was about 2" thick and contained label info and pics.

Doesn't help if you are only interested in US releases, mind!

That book is awesome.

It was published a couple of months ago by the swedish company Premium Publishing.

You can buy it here:

...or flick through a bunch of its pages here:

great looking book and imagine having the US equivalent also !

I've often thought down the years that I bet Ive got some sleeves that someone else is looking for and I bet others have sleeves I'd like. Maybe a system like saturday morning swapshop might be worth a try, for example -" Have Grapevine UK sleeve, swap for Loma US" ?

That would be great.  I have a lot of extra Specialty, Mr. Peeke, Cuca, Loma, Bell, Madison, Mod, Scepter, Wand, Jamie-Guyden, Jubilee-Josie, Cameo-Parkway, Rendezvous, Liberty, Imperial, Minit, Del-Fi, Dot, Everest, Carlton, King/Federal/Deluxe/Bethlehem, Fire, Fury, Coed, Ascot, CIRCA, ARDCO, USA, Chess/Checker/Cadet, Motown, Stax, Volt, and some unusual small indies, plus scads of the majors' various sleeves.  What I'm looking for is 1950s US R&B indie sleeves, such as Modern/RPM/Flair/Crown, Jubilee, Atlantic(artist renderings), Rama, Gee, End, Gone, Aladdin, Swing-Time, Dootone, and any others from 1950-1958 on R&B indie labels.
