Derek Pearson Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 4 Hollidays on Master 3001 "Deep down in my heart/He can't love you". Based at 8325 Joy Road in Detroit, Michigan. Joy Road eh - there must be a joke in there somewhere? What a great midpace group harmony thing - a collectors dream - must be pretty obscure as well. The Soul Harmony book dates it as a 1961 release, Mmm I dunno about that it sounds a bit later - but you can certainly hear that embryonic Detroit sound we all love so much taking shape. Burping sax, tinkling piano its all in there. In this period the group consisted of Jimmy Ruffin, Jimmy Holiday + unknown members, Jimmy Holiday co-wrote the song as well. The group later went onto record for Golden World, Revilot, Groove City etc. Manship Guide says £250, Tim Brown reckons £300. Derek says I like it. Four_Holidays_1.9MB_mp3.mp3
