TOAD Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Hope you can help me how many 45s did they do on the label and prices would be very helpful cheers t
Steve G Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 (edited) Two on Capitol I believe. It came about when they came to NY in the 60s as part of the Worlds Trade fair and met Luther Dixon. The 'Busters were two Jamaican dudes - they were on a load of other labels, including Minit, Shout, Scepter etc. Plus a load more on Jamaican labels....Don't know on value? Tiberius Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 I've seen Behold a few times on ebay.com around the £40 for Ex/M- mark I think. 1
TOAD Posted October 14, 2013 Author Posted October 14, 2013 Scepter wow i have one on minit and it is a brilliant dancer
Steve G Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 75 Toad, it was mainly soft reggae and covers......not bad but not brilliant - Lp and 2 x 45s.... 1
Guest penny Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 One of the capitol 45s is a remake of their bluebeat 45 'tell me why', but its not that well produced and doesnt really work. Sold it for 30 I think.
Soul-slider Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 I have one on US Capitol (Northern) and another Northern dancer on Jamaican BMN. I also have their UK L.P on Doctor Bird which is mainly soul with one or two ska tracks....very rare.

Gene-r Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 (edited) The Blues Busters were Philip James and Lloyd Campbell - sadly both no longer with us. "Got To Get There" on Capitol is worth checking out. Edited October 15, 2013 by Gene-R 2
Pete S Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 I've got some live footage of the Blues Busters, it's from a Reggae concert in the Bronx circa 1982, they are still dressed in matching suits doing a very dated act, it must be said. Nice, but a little out of place.
Ian Dewhirst Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 My fave dancer by them, "Ohh Baby" only issued on the Jamaican BMN label: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3l-ivflKW0 Yep, my favourite too! Great track! Ian D

Guest Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Yes 1967 mate, Island is very early, 62 I think Thanks Pete...I didn't know that, although had my suspicions considering the Island label design/release number. Glad I hung into the BMN copy...is it worth anything yet? Oddly enough I came across a copy of their United Artists LP the other day...first one I've found over here.

Sebastian Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Glad I hung into the BMN copy...is it worth anything yet? It usually sells far too cheap in my opinion considering its rarity and quality. Usually about £75-£100.
Sebastian Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 (edited) noel Williams is he king sporty ? Thanks seb i like that Yes, Noel is King Sporty, he owned Konduko which was a TK distributed label. Edited October 15, 2013 by Sebastian 1

Sebastian Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 (edited) Cheers Seb...are the flipsides also different takes? "Ohh Baby" on BMN is a totally different song compared to "Oh! Baby" on UK Island. They don't have the same lyrics at all. The flipside on BMN is "Unless" (also an uptempo soul tune). The flipside on UK Island is "Behold". As Pete wrote, there are probably 5-6 years between the recordings. UK Island is from 1962. Here's the flipside on BMN: Edited October 15, 2013 by Sebastian 1
Soul-slider Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 This is my BMN 45. A top drawer Northern tune, flip is 'I Can't Stop' another Northern Soul dancer.
