I can't believe this was not a popular show judging by the number of requests and dedications he always read out,

One of the best and most professionally presented shows of its type.

I'm pleased somebody has raised this. I really used to enjoy Dave Brown's programme. Always playing the rarer side of Motown and with a real passion and love of the music.

I heard his sign-off when he said the show was finishing. Gutted.

I tuned in this Saturday to see what they had put in its place. It was half way through Ghostbusters . . . . . . . that was all I needed to know. :(

Bye bye Smooth Radio from me.

All very complicated but here goes.....Global, owners of Capital bought GMG, owners of Smooth. At the beginning of October they ditched the DAB only sister station Smooth 70's. Consequently the specialist presenters Richard Searling, Myself and Mike Sweeney lost their gigs. Smooth 70s has been rebranded Capital Xtra, a younger new music focus.

Smooth Radio re-aligned their presentation gigs to Leicester Square meaning a cull of North West based staff.

Former colleague of mine Paul Hollins, based in London will be presenting some form of Soul on Sunday along with daytime Capital presenter David Andrews.

Dave Brown as you know lost his gig. Andy Peebles has moved to Gold(Capital's national DAB)

Me, I have other Radio gigs up North. Richard is taking a rest.

Look we are all adults. If the listening figures cannot justify the programme then so be it.

But at least treat us like adults.

I find it so DISRESPECTFUL to take off this show with zero notice or explanation.

Totally agree, but very few radio groups operate in that manner. Branding and Profit come first in many cases. Fortunately I'm with a great outfit in Staffs/Cheshire every Sat 6-10. Signal 2 on 1170AM, DAB and www.signal2.co.uk

There's a lot of ads to contend with, but the songs are personally chosen, with the brand totally supporting me. Can't really ask for anything more in this cut throat business.

Dave Brown has always been a top soul fan who went to the torch, wigan, Leeds central, plus all the other nights around the hay day of northern, plus a real nice guy, someone is going to have to be awfully good to fill his shoes, col

Sadly, and I know Kev will agree, the replacement show will be pretty much the same standard oldies coming round with ever-increasing frequency, don't dare to play anything Mrs. Gladys Twatt can't sing the words to, with a few asinine pre-recorded links from someone who knows even less thrown in...cynical? Moi? Yep, been there....:-(
