Stafford

JAY & THE AMERICANS - LIVIN' ABOVE YOUR HEAD - UNITED ARTISTS

EX  15

Classic

RUFUS WOOD - BEFORE 2001 - ESPANOLA

EX-  60 SOLD

This is the second issue with black print but still very rarely sighted these days. Few marks but plays M-

THE LOST SOULS - I'M YOUR LOVE MAN - GLASCO

EX 25

Great record, nice vinyl but bad label tear to left of label, inch by

inch and a half

THE MAGIFICENT MEN - I'VE GOT NEWS - CAPITOL
EX 30
Raised part of the label is a little grubby but vinyl is fine, maybe EX-
visually but plays EX

LITTLE OSCAR - THE MESSAGE - SUPREME BLUES
EX+ 20
uptempo funky dancer

HOT BUSH - TELL ME THAT YOU WILL - APA DEMO

M 20

WAYNE COCHRAN - I'M IN TROUBLE - MERCURY
M 15
Much more like it, old Wigan thumper from Eddie Cochran's Dad. Not
really.

MAMIE GALORE - IT AIN'T NECESSARY - ST. LAWRENCE
M- 20
A Catacombs anthem.

FRED HUGHES - BABY BOY - BRUNSWICK

EX 20
Another classic from 73-74

LARRY BARNES - RAGS IS RAGS - MERCURY
EX 20
Good blue eyed pounder

TROY DODDS - TRYING TO FIND MY BABY / EARTHQUAKE - BAYTOWN DEMO
EX- 20
Rare white demo, obviously one of the first to be found as it has little

sellotape remnants on the run off where a cover up label was applied.

This is the rare Swan distributed press.

PHIL COULTER & HIS ORCHESTRA - A GOOD THING GOING - COLUMBIA
EX 20
Nice instrumental though remember when this was first played and
everyone went 'what the...??' Only usually see this on a demo, this
one's a red issue, very slight wear plays immaculately

BILL PINKNEY - DON'T CALL ME - FONTANA
EX 20
James Brown production, nice dancer, bargain

THE FANTASTIC JOHNNY C - DON'T DEPEND ON ME - PHIL LA OF SOUL
EX 15
Nice original vinyl copy

THE FOUR JAYS - LOVE MY LOVE - CONGRESS

EX+ 15
Another forgotten Wigan oldie

SONNY OCEANS - PITY ME - COLUMBIA DEMO
EX+ 15
A Wigan "one spin wonder", I still think it's great though

THE NITE TRAIN - TO THE BITTER END - ROULETTE DEMO

VG 15
Looks rough, plays fine with a small amount of crackle in parts.
Probably been sleeveless all it's life

GAYLORD & HOLIDAY - LOVE WHERE HAVE YOU GONE - PALMER
M- 15
Dancer

BOBBY BLAND - CALL ON ME - DUKE

EX 15
One of the 'foundation' dancers from the earliest days of rare soul, was
once so rare that it was played off an LP as no 45's had been imported
yet

BOBBY McCLURE - YOU GOT ME BABY / PEAK OF LOVE - CHECKER
EX+ 15
Excellent double sider

THE VONTASTICS - YOU CAN WORK IT OUT - ST. LAWRENCE DEMO
M- 15
One sided demo - great uptempo dancer

DON COVAY - IT'S BETTER TO HAVE AND DON'T NEED - MERCURY
M- 10

THE BUCKINGHAMS - DON'T YOU CARE - COLUMBIA

M- 10

JERRY BUTLER - MOODY WOMAN - MERCURY
EX- 10

ROSCO ROBINSON - THAT'S ENOUGH - WAND
VG++ 10

BUNNY SIGLER - SUNNY SUNDAY - PARKWAY

EX 10

EARL VAN DYKE & THE MOTOWN BRASS - 6 BY 6 - GORDY
EX 10

BOBBY BLAND - YUM YUM TREE - DUKE
EX- 10
Plays EX, light ring wear

JOE FRAZIER - FIRST ROUND KNOCKOUT - MOTOWN DEMO
M- 10

SPYDER TURNER - I CAN'T MAKE IT ANYMORE - MGM
EX 10
Surprised that some people are saying that Ritchie Havens plodding folk
version of this is better than Spyder's. Those people should be
arrested.

JACKIE LEE - THE SHOTGUN AND THE DUCK / TEMPTATION WALK - MIRWOOD
EX 10
We take records like this for granted now but what a double sider,
'Shotgun' almost melts the paper off the walls and 'Temptation' really
is the epitomy of West Coast Northern Soul.

THE PLATTERS - DEVRI - MUSICOR
EX+ 10
Totally forgotten Torch oldie, lovely dancer, chime bars a plenty

THE DELLS - MAKE SURE - CADET
EX- 10
Classic oldie, some light marks not affecting play. Ever tried the B
side, "Does Anybody Know I'm Here", a very poignant Vietnam song?
Blimey. Tugs at the heartstrings alright.

JIMMY CLIFF - WATERFALL - A & M
M- 10

THE TRAITS - HARLEM SHUFFLE - SCEPTER
M 10

Stompalong blue eyed version. Buy it for the worst version of West Side
Story's "Somewhere" on the B side, sounds like Vic Reeves' club singer
on vocals.

SHORT PEOPLE - WHY'D YOU PUT IT TO ME BABY - GUSTO
EX 10

THE VELVELETTES - THESE THINGS WILL KEEP ME LOVING YOU - SOUL
EX 10
Some people prefer the Blue Sharks Top of the Pops LP style version to
this!

BLACK NASTY - CUT YOUR MOTOR OFF - BIG HIT
EX 10

LESLEY MILLER - YOU GOT A WAY OF BRINGING OUT MY TEARS - RCA DEMO
M- 10
Clumsy title, nice midtempo girlie sound

E.G. TAYLOR & THE SOUNDS OF SOUL - YOU MADE ME MAD - VAL
M- 10 SOLD

DELORES HALL - GOOD LOVIN' MAN - KEYMEN
M- 10

One of my favourite double siders - I Love You 1000 Times on flip

LITTLE JERRY WILLIAMS - I'M THE LOVER MAN - SOUTHERN SOUND
M- 10

ROGER K - GIVE ME THE LOVE (I'M NEEDING) - BIRTH
EX+ 10

BOBBY BLOOM - WE'RE ALL GOIN' HOME - MGM
m 10
Nice 70's dancer

THE VANGUARDS - I CAN'T USE YOU GIRL - WHIZ
EX- 10
How fast is this?

DIANE TREVOUR - HAVIN' A PARTY (DOWN ON THE FARM) - CU RAE
M- 10
blue eyed stomper I think

THE CORDELLS - YOU DO A THING TO MY MIND - STEEL TOWN SOUND INC

M 10
