Guest Chris J Cooper Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Any info on the Wyncote label and Detroit sound Jumping at the gogo thanks
Dave Moore Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Wyncote was a budget LP label owned by Philly's Cameo Parkway set up. The Jumping at The Go Go on Wyncote is, as far as I know, a bastardised bootleg of the original Four Larks - "Groovin' At The Go Go" on Tower.Regards,Dave

Do you mean it is some sort of altered version of the Four Larks?
Pete S Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Sorry Dave I'm not following you? Do you mean it is some sort of altered version of the Four Larks? No it comes from an LP of cover versions, it was never released on a single apart from a boot. It's an adaption of Grooving At The Go Go with some lyric changes. I prefer this version! 2
Dave Moore Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Sorry Dave I'm not following you? Do you mean it is some sort of altered version of the Four Larks? Here are both versions. Detroit Sound: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otsOQSXlNNo Four Larks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qbHuY3SfNc There's also a bootleg of the Four Larks on a Canterbury label as well as a Harthon Reissue (Bootleg?) from the 70s with the instrumental on the flip. Smiffy: Wash yer lugs out! ;-) Regards, Dave
Rich B Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Sorry Dave, Pete is deffo right on this one. Quite apart from the album existing, the lyrics have been subtly altered on the Detroit Sound version. Anyone know what the album is would/should fetch?
Rich B Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 (edited) Forgot to attach picture - wouldn't fit on my scanner so I had to take a quick picture, apologies for the quality; Edited October 5, 2013 by Rich B

Quite apart from the album existing, the lyrics have been subtly altered on the Detroit Sound version. Anyone know what the album is would/should fetch? No need to be sorry Mate. What you call 'subtly altered' I simply called a 'bastardised version'! Detroit Sounds.....my arse! Regards, Dave PS. Are you saying that the 45 is a legit Cameo release?

Are you saying that the 45 is a legit Cameo release? From your original post I assumed you meant that the original Four Larks recording had in some way been altered - I was trying to check whether that was what you meant. Clearly the 45 is a boot - but the Detroit Sounds is a bona fide recording of the song in the same way that something like Jenny & the Jewels was a budget cover of the Supremes. Clearly you aren't a fan but it is a legit recording.

Hi Robb, Having interviewed all three of the guys extensively, it's still difficult to establish exactly what was licenced by them and what was simply 'pressed up' by people with an eye for the UK Northern market. Hence my use of a question mark. Regards, Dave
