retro bods lining up to join soul source? I'm going by the use of that first person plural object pronoun in mark soul's first post, I might add.

Aren't we supposed to have a intro post first?

Hi Macca

We didn't get much of an introduction from Shakey either - other than calling us all effing bastrards!

It's a good job some of those that are being so sensitive haven't been involved in any of the "proper" debate we have on here on ocassion. Bloody hell - they would have called the cops just to break me and you up Smiffy! LOl

Peter

And that's with gloves ON!

What was once a genuinely cool and undergound soul scene could have done without naff films,

embarassing TV shows and tat advertising imho....as they say "less is more"..the less the public knew about it

the more exclusive and alluring it was....not any more....shame but nothing lasts forever

Kinda nail's it for me.

Always the same when an underground scene get's mainstream exposure.

You've just given me an idea Ted  - Hot boxers! - new male underwear featuring scans of your favourite records all set against a black and white backcloth of WIgan Casino and a Hillman Imp and people doing V signs.....job done. Watch out for them on Ebay soon and if I can get a stall, at "Russfest 2014".....

I still think my Mirwood Colostomy Bag (patent pending) has legs....

Just loads of people joining up to defend their mates, of whom the worst thing that anyone has said is that he thought a pair of Bridget Jones type big knickers were on view, that's the extent of people "attacking" Pete and Susan has been on here, nobody's said anything but nice things about them yet they all steam in without reading the entire topic.

Pete - I keep away from Fake Book as much as I can, but after seeing the Face Book Soul Warriors jump on here,  blowing "Bloomer gate" out of all proportion without reading the full topic (like you have pointed out)   I took a peek on Fake Book & couldn't believe the clap trap I read (& they call people on here keyboard warriors! don't make me laugh!)

This thread has been a diplomatic one, with only one post I found offensive towards Pete & Susan, and I stuck up for them, as did a lot of other Soul Sourcers.  The young lad who called everyone barstewards really should have done his homework before following the Fake Book Sheep and assuming that Soul Sourcers were out to get them.

This has been an awful week for the soul scene, in my opinion, & if it wasn't for the Marvin Gaye & Charles Bradley documentary last night, I'd be doing an Eddie Parker  :(

Regards

Awww that's really nice of you Pete, cheers

Yeah the keeping in touch with family & friends (abroad in my case) is one good thing about Face Book, so they're stuck with me on there as well

I've just had this error come up after trying to 'like' just for the 3rd time today "There was a problem storing your reputation vote", anyone know what it means? / Can a Moderator sort it please?

Thanks,

Len

Edit - It's now working - Thanks.

Yes there are so many dimensions - the artists, the record collecting and crate digging, the various "scenes" past and present, we get enough twaddle about mediocre rock bands so why not a series? Sounds like a plan.

Yeh, good luck with that - let me know how you get on :D

.........and to follow.......can you imagine 'us lot'? - Look at this thread, and that's just for half an hour!....Edit - Just read, 'Hull Soul' already said that! (I'm catching up)

A depressingly depressing programme that left me feeling depressed.

Sums it all up really.

Look back forty years at clothes and music coz nothing else exists after everybody left the scene in the early eighties and turned off the lights.

Tricky

"I'm not listening!" :D

.......Someone did leave one light on mate

I'm amazed it left you feeling depressed, the minute it finished I went in to Davina and said I want to go to an allnighter and get smashed, it really made me feel like going out again.  Till about an hour later when I realised I couldn't be bothered.

:D

I'd still like to know what an upfront venue is. Is that where everybody tries to sit on the stage?

No mate - dance on it,,,,,Do you remember at The Ritz in the 90's folkz?

Hi Pete,

It's also possible he's gone to "Russfest 2013" for the weekend  ....who knows, who cares.....

......someone cares don't they?.....god, now I'm depressed - Thanks 'mate'.......

......This is me being my 'normal' self, I have to admit I was a little disturbed at the 'finished article' being so long though........it had been 'edited' almost in half!  :D

Hi Alison, would that be the documentary film leading up to the launch of his first album? If it is it's fantastic! Truly inspiring given his life experiences.

Can you define this 'keyboard warriors' expression that keeps getting used, does that apply to anyone who didn't like the program and wasn't afraid to say so?

(Not me, I loved it)

Just because people don't go to venues doesn't mean they aren't as keen and passionate about the music as people who do.

I don't like the term 'Key Board Warriors' either - it almost implies that just because someone goes out to a Soul event 'every' weekend they are somehow more 'worthy' - I went to two parties with my kids this weekend, and this afternoon to Wicksteed Park.....I also have a life to lead.......

I don't like the term 'Hand Baggers' either - Everyone's welcome at any venue I am involved in (As long as they behave)

All the best,

Len

If you think about it - It's cool that 'they' get it wrong isn't it?
