Danny White & Debbie Taylor I Don't Mind Overtime (with You)

Now for something very special indeed!

From two of Soul’s greatest vocals of the 60s, serving up an UNISSUED duet of monumental proportions; recorded at Royal Studios, Memphis under the unparalleled guidance of Willie Mitchell. This impressive pairing emit outrageously impressive Northern Soul, an instantaneous dance-floor-detonator impregnated with every possible quality a DJ seeks in an exclusive.

Ear-catching intro collides with acutely powerful duet vocals, horns explode in the background as Danny White & Debbie fire up their voices to compete. The tune grows and grows, mushrooming in a monumental piece of Proper-Northern.

Who ever is lucky enough to win this blizzard of 60s soul, will have an EXCLUSIVE to boast in his set, and an instant dancefloor hit we think everyone will be talking about.

It really is THAT GOOD! …So good in fact I am already jealous..

Otherwise it may have sold a few copies. You are of course viewing one of the more elusive 45’s on this cherished label.

Tony Michaels I Love The Life I Live (and Live The Life I Love) C/w Picture Me And You

Aficionados of label-beauty will be mesmerized by this insanely rare yellow stock copy of the Golden Torch’s “Last record”.

A disc that involved some of the greatest creatives working in the Motor City in 1966. Written by Al (Kent) Hamilton, Bob Hamilton & Joanne Bratton. Instantly capturing the attention of the “Torch” faithful by it’s similarity with the already popular all-niter spin San Remo Strings “Hungry For Love” instrumental.

Flip it over and more Detroit doyens get to work on an equally impressive flipside. written & produced by George Clinton, Sidney Barnes, Mike Terry with the deft touch of the “Sax God” arranging the finishing touches.

Not only two outstanding examples of Detroit Northern Soul on one disc. But a record that perpetuated the especially selected “Last Record” habit; started by “The Wheel” and lovingly persevered by “Blackpool Mecca” & “Wigan Casino” that all boasted an unwavering “Signature Last Record”

Most important factor in this listing in the truly immaculate “showroom” condition, and that spectacular “Yellow” stock label.

Calvin Grayson Love Just Begun C/w You've Got To Be Willing

The last time we had the 45 on auction it was an unfortunate vg+, the response on final bidding was frantic, aggressive and relentless.

So how pleased are we to be able to offer a MINT minus totally “like new” copy.

Check out the production prowess of Ricardo Lewis as he guides Capitol Recording artist through two Northern Soul blasters! Calvin’s vocal rips through a brass supported arrangement, with a slick smooth vocal-group chorus, killer prompting sax and an acrobatic inducing brass break. As the record progress Calvin ups his vocal to a snarling defiant declaration of love.

and we’re not done yet, flip it over, and gasp as all the same elements explode from the grooves…

THIS IS “in ya face” NORTHERN SOUL - twice over!

Dolly Way And The Space Ship Earth Don't Stop

In the burgeoning world of “Funky” Northern Soul choices, this Californian Troiel Raglin project is right-on-the-money. Funky, funky horns, heavy-duty bass guitar rhythm is embroidered with both sister & brother harmony choruses, an intricate cow-bell adds that extra something; that when all put together lifts this recording into a “memorable” category, subtle strings…then your hit with a sax-break from the depths of the players soul…too much!

A huge production for the time, and one which will we guarantee will go from strength to strength. We suggest you secure a copy before you know what happens…

Mary Saxton Sad Eyes

Rare Edmonton, Canada album boasting her two greatest Northern Soul tracks:

  1. Take My Heart
  2. Losing Control

  3. I Gotta Go Now

  4. Lonely World are relatively unknowns…

The 3 offer up proper Northern Soul from Alberta, from a lady who exhibits unbounded enthusiasm as she sings the upbeat songs and depth of passion when she digs deep into the ballads. “Sad Eyes” & “I Don’t Know” are Soul-Sister-serenading of the highest standard.

Even if you took away the two killer tracks this album is still a testament to this lady’s talent!

Condition is superb, includes original inner sleeve & Quality Records insert of LP releases.

Edwin Starr Love (the Lonely People's Prayer)

One for the TMG obsessive!

Even though this flipside carries strong demand from Northern Soul exposure - but for the British Tamla Motown compleatist this offering carries extra kudos as it includes the 1973 EMI October 12th. 1973 - 7” by 7” press sheet.

Helen Shapiro Stop (and You Will Become Aware)

A UK ONLY Wigan Casino & Cleethorpes Pier anthem.

An uncompromising thumpin’ stomper, which Helen’s almost masculine 21 year old vocal attacks with effortless grace. A relentless, pacy, almost frantic real-deal slab of Northern Soul that is now considered “Classic”

Produced by Pink Floyd producer Norman “Hurricane” Smith which may account for the flutes dancing in and out of the bold brass driven backing, written by Roger Earl Okin who two years later released his own, but inferior version on UK CBS, and arranged by the Zack Lawrence, a man who confirmed his ear for the upbeat British dance production by taking the Brit clubs by a storm when became.. “Mr. Bloe - Groovin’ with….”

Yes occasionally the Brits themselves can craft a proper-slab of Northern Soul. and what better way to own one of it’s best examples, than this immaculate eye-catching 1967 Green & White DEMO!

Brice Coefield Ain't That Right C/w Just One More Night

The long friendship of Brice Coefield, Chester & Gary Pipkin saw them teaming up over the decades performing together in Los Angeles based groups, The Untouchables, Alley Cats & Africa etc.

On this fabulous dual Northern Soul rarity they are joined by the matchless arranging skills of H. B. Barnum; the result is cutting-edge horn-propelled Northern Soul one side, a huge Californian Beat Ballad on the other side.

Check out that sumptuous soundfile, then gaze at the majestic label scan of a STOCK copy that’s ten times rarer than the pretty elusive PROMO.

A 45 that offer so much to the ear and the eye…

Blue Jays (it Depends On The) Point Of View C/w That Feelin'

A most-wanted top-drawer Northern Soul 45’s, and we think the flipside is a real-winner too.

Two glorious examples of that enchanting mix of horns and vocal that delivers a character of it’s own, with a unique lead singing style enhanced by laid-back unobtrusive horn work.

A single vocal that instantly grabs your attention with it’s rich warbling tone, perfecting lifted by “Carolinas” styled brass. The two components fuse into one wonderful feel-good experience that has been a dancefloor favourite for 3 decades now, without having been overplayed, bootlegged or ruin by quantity finds or any other negative that has tainted the desirability of so many great records over the last 40 years.

And now the flipside emerges as a potential head-turner… what more could a boy ask for.

Future 2000 Good Things C/w She Loves Me

Utterly sublime vocal group excellence - from the desk of Tony Aikens.

Soulfully fluid dance groove with all the class of a Record Conglomerate production. But this is from the streets of Brooklyn, New York. If we said this was the Manhattans with all the $$$$ Columbia put into their productions this string driven beauty would pass that test.

A spectacular dance production without flaw.

Flip it over for another finely constructed harmony session, this time the guys fall-back into a romantic mood with those tight vocals weaving their way through a horn supported arrangement.

Both sides are vocally resplendent - offer two opposites of the highest calibre!

Soulsmen It's Hard But It's Fair C/w Begging Please

R&B fans here’s a super-rare 1962 killer from Los Angeles on the same label as The much-sought after Soul Searchers “Get That Church”

Not to be confused with Henry “Juggy” Murray’s New York label which starts with a 7 prefix. This is a Los Angeles street-level Ron Barrett production blending Gospel, R&B and Doo-Wop into an imposing slab of early 60s harmony-group dance. Vibrant, relentless dancefloor shaker - and a 45 that most-all R&B Northern Soul DJ will not be able to elevate their sets with.

RARE in the extreme and bursting with potential!

Rose Battiste I Can't Leave You C/w Someday

Detroit’s THELMA label is right up there with the world’s most respected & collectable labels; especially the coveted PROMO’s which are particularly hard to find and sought-after. So when this 1964 double-helping of Northern Soul comes along in utterly impeccable condition, we are pleased to have it gracing these pages.

From a Northern Soul standpoint this 45 bristles with the golden touch of Don Davis a session before the emerging GROOVESVILLE music took off, his productions even then just pulsated with the sound of the Motor City, strong, tight and vibrant with the 16 year old Rose belting out two magnificent Motownesque winners.

“I Can’t Leave You” has been a firm favourite for decades now, but today’s listening confirms “Someday” may actually be the better Northern Soul.

Let’s be realistic, finding nearly 50 year old Thelma Promo is as near perfect condition as you could ever dream of, is a rare happening.

CONDITION CONDITION CONDITION, THELMA THELMA THELMA, hope we won’t make you cringe, with the words PROMO PROMO PROMO.

Little Joe Cook I'll Never Go To A Party Again

A 1963 Margaret Nash composition with all those ingredient we’ve come to expect from this lady who wrote so many fine 60s Big City tunes for husband Johnny Nash.

So check out yet another of her creations. This is a seldom-seen but supremely infectious Popcorn/Northern Soul hybrid. From the prolific Philadelphia based Little Joe Cook, who can also boast a huge Northern Soul contribution of his own.

Lovers of the big orchestra production will adore this horn & string backed big outing on which Little Joe adjusts his vocal-pitch “Peanuts” falsetto to a more growling purr as he compliments the dirty-trembling-trumpet assistance.

This has for decades been a classic Belgium Popcorn spin without crossing over to the Northern Soul - mainly because all those Belgium guys hovered up any available copies some 4 decades since.

Dead-right for an enterprising NS DJ to pick up on and give it a long-overdue British airing…
