ALAN Hi Mate, Yes its meself! You're right... it's a kind of online remand home for the criminally insane geriatrics that were once the backbone of the British Northern Soul scene and now struggle to carry more than a 50 box without causing a fliipin' hernia or putting a joint out. So whazzup? Have you sold up Josies too then? I'm running South Yorkshires Leading Brand Development Agency... for my sins... and loving it! Just fathered another kiddie, 3 weeks ago, so plenty of life in the auld Dog yet... but not as handsome as when I was a lad (and when I actually looked more like a lass!). Would be good to catch up properly. Not seen you since John Bensons 50th (about 20 years ago )... Give us a shout if you've figured out how to do a pm. Meanwhile... kuckin gek that kucking ga ga uckin' asgard kuckin Jimmy kuckin' Burns in the kuckin' post to me!!!! Oh... and Dennis says Hi! Sean

Mick Howard Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 ======== god havent seen sue from halifax for a few years now,..great girl who we used to see everyweek with ady harley and the like any one seen her lately? I knocked around with Ady Harley, Sue & Kyle, Jimmy & Alison, Sue & Alan (Huddersfield), Christine & Simon (Bradford), Craig & Ozzy (Brighouse) et al briefly when I lived in the 'fax' (Siddal) back in the 80's. I hope they don't have a problem with bringing you up to date but........ Ady - emigrated to Oz (saw some photos in the gallery from an Oz weekender with him in them) Sue & Kyle - Sue still with Brad from Colne (as far as I am aware) and of course Kyle married Rosemary a few weeks ago Jimmy & Alison - split up fairly recently - met up with Alison briefly for the Wilton back in March and with Jimmy at the last Wilton I went to in May Sue & Alan - Sue happily married c/w sprogs but not with Alan who I also see regularly at the Wilton but as is his shauvenstic want he's not 'going steady' (ha ha) Craig - happily married for a long time now to Debbie - see them both quite regularly when I travel down South Ozzy - sadly passed away a couple of years ago due to alcohol related illness - had a great 'wake' for him with a few folk from the scene including Craig & Debbie, Flyyny (from Brighouse), Dean and Bernie (Nottingham), Debbie Troops (apologies to those I've not mentioned) Incidentally my ex wife's cousin was a regular Casino punter but for the life of me I can't remember her name but she died back in the early 80's of an aids related condition.. How time flies....................... Mick
3 Before 8 Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Great to see some photos of Clifton. We used to catch the 69 bus for the wicker in sheffield to rotherham bus station and walk up the hill. It was ideal for me as I was always skint as a kid.

Alan Walls Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Blimey, I never noticed a balcony! Clifton Hall was the first niter where I started to know what was what. Went to the Casino a couple of times in 81 but I didn't have a clue what was going on. CH was identified by Neil and the boys who ran our bus from Edinburgh as being the rightful heir to Wigan so that's where we frequented, and where I learned my trade! Gary Rushbrooke was the first DJ became aware of, I mean, he was the first guy whose name and tunes I recognised. Consequently, Gary became a favourite and it was a great pleasure to bring him up to the Crown Hotel and Glenrothes YMCA a few years later. I seem to remember him playing an instrumental of Ain't That Peculiar at CH, did I imagine that? Another fond memory is of walking straight onto the floor on paying in and without breaking my stride danced to Richard playing Maurice McAllister/Mr Soul 'What Happened to Yesterday', resplendent in army trousers tucked into DM's and a mad big army rain coat (yep, discoverng gear was also part of my apprenticeship!). Also remember a hoo ha over The Preston Street Dancers. They only seemed to come to life when Richard and Poke were playing modern, but the old skool Northern lads weren't happy them folk blowing whistles and assorted jazz funkery. Wished I still had my 'On Top With Soul' badge, had it for years. Great days Any more pics would be sweet!
