Chris L Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 What's the most desirable ? The white demo, plain blue label or darker speckled blue Constellation ? (yes I know about Bunky)
dthedrug Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Hi All......The white DEMO is the one to have & rarest, the shooting star label is very nice, then the blue label, however there are bootlegs of the blue label, DAVE K
Prophonics 2029 Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Is the star copys styrene? I have a styrene I Can Take Care Of My Self.
Guest Andy Carling Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Dark blue speckled for me.Andy
The Yank Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Is the star copys styrene? I have a styrene I Can Take Care Of My Self. The star copy is vinyl ( at least mine is).
boba Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 in my experience the blue non-starred is rarest. i don't know if it is most valuable or "desirable" though.
nksouldude Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Around 10 years ago me and 2 mates were driving south side of Chicargo when we saw a open trailer full of records We stopped and enquired at the church charity shop next door They let us search through the trailer which was about a third full of 45s and 33s The only decent item we came away with was a demo of Nolan Chance So my vote goes to the demo 1

Len Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Is this one of those records that are 'of a time', as in 'you had to have been there'? I'm not meaning this post to be one of those 'sh*t record' comments by any means, as they serve no purpose, that's not what I mean. I genuinely don't think much to it, not even Butch's one. I'm not knocking the record for the sake of it, I just wondered is it just me? If so, I really am 'the odd one out' All the best, Len 1

Len Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 (edited) HI ALL WHAT'S YOUR PIONT LEN? DAVE K Hi mate, My point is, that I'm actually wondering if my taste is 'unique' I was having a 'discussion' with Pete S about 'Romona Collins - You've Been Cheating' - I absolutely love it - he don't, and with ref this record, I get the impression that everyone (except me) absolutely loves it. I'm aware that people's different histories influence their taste, and can relate to people around the time this was first played loved it then, so obviously love it now - especially with their memories attached. Does that make sense? All the best, Len Edited September 13, 2013 by LEN 1
Triode Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 I've still never heard Butch's test pressing version........

Prophonics 2029 Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 I've still never heard Butch's test pressing version........ I thought its good, very good just a bit calmer on the vocal.
Prophonics 2029 Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Just to mention Ramona Collins short into version then 2 longer into versions. Spanner in the works.
Chalky Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 I thought its good, very good just a bit calmer on the vocal. Vocally far far better for me.
Guest Dave Turner Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 (edited) Is there not a yellow issue as well? I think it's generally assumed to be a mock up ???? Edited September 13, 2013 by Dave Turner
Peter99 Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 It's one of those records where you can have a sort of lazy, laid back, dance to - almost a cocky sort of walk type thing. If you know what I mean. I like it. Peter 1

Chris L Posted September 14, 2013 Author Posted September 14, 2013 I think it's generally assumed to be a mock up ???? I have "If he makes you" on yellow Constellation, so I guess it could have come out, there are quite a few releases in yellow, especially Gene Chandler. I'll be selling a blue speckled in a weeks time.
45cellar Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 "Arp" Press - East Coast Typical "Arp" Label Variation with Left and Right Justified Credits These are the two that I have in my collection. 1
Dave Pinch Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 the yellows issues stopped probably at the end of 1964..the later issues were blue only
manus Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Classic - great to listen too and great to dance too.
Winsford Soul Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 What's the most desirable ? The white demo, plain blue label or darker speckled blue Constellation ? (yes I know about Bunky) Any since I sold mine along with my whole collection Steve
dthedrug Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 think this is a bit rareDSC03859.JPG HI ALL....Is the BUNKY copy your own? if so is it foe sale? I forgot how similar it was with the CONSTALATION DEMO DAVE K
Jim G Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Bunky is rarest "issue" by miles, £3K plus if memory serves me right
Chalky Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Bunky is rarest "issue" by miles, £3K plus if memory serves me right But it's a reissue isn't it, came after all the others did it not meet its reserve, something like £2400 final price, not the interest in it the seller thought?
Jim G Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 But it's a reissue isn't it, came after all the others did it not meet its reserve, something like £2400 final price, not the interest in it the seller thought? Ask Mr Manship, he knows. He says it is the rarest issue, I am a mere mortal in these matters. Don't think it is re-issue, just one a few pressed at the same time as a Bunky Pick?
Chris L Posted September 21, 2013 Author Posted September 21, 2013 (edited) Its not even a rare record on any of the constellation copies ...just always sells for too much What determines a "rare record" ? Edited September 21, 2013 by Chris L
Chalky Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 (edited) Ask Mr Manship, he knows. He says it is the rarest issue, I am a mere mortal in these matters. Don't think it is re-issue, just one a few pressed at the same time as a Bunky Pick? Why do I need to ask John? I know what John thinks, talked to him about it when he auction it. It is obviously the rarest of the Nolan Chance releases, anyone knows that. Pretty sure the Bunky release was done from the same stampers as the constellation release afterwards for some self promotion, maybe to get a release overseas? I can't find the topic started by guy who found one in Aus. Edited September 21, 2013 by chalky
Chalky Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 What detirmines a "rare record" ? They are all rare in the grand scheme of things just some are rarer than others. I agree with Nev for the amount of copies about and what you see for sale on a regular basis it should sell for half what it does. It's a classic though so will always sell.
TheBigO Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 I always liked the 70s LP track version that John Vincent used to spin at the end of the 70's/early 80's and whose name has completely escaped now that I'm typing!

According to Ady in a previous topic he sold his "Bunky" one to JV. Wasn't there also an acetate by supposedly Ritchie Parker, not very good if I remember rightly, have it on a disc somewhere.
