soulfulsaint Posted June 10, 2006 Posted June 10, 2006 (edited) Why is wpaulvandyke such a charming imposter? This is a positive post so no negativity please. wpaul always starts posts with 'nice stuff' - on soulsource this is immediately suspicious. He loves refering to soul stars that are perceived as naff - Barry White etc. He likes to fake that he has just discovered sounds that are already played out. He mentions Peterborough a bit too often. His dad is 'old' and 'can't use the internet' -allowing Paul to be naive on his dad's behalf. This make you think he is dad? So who is from Peterborough that needs attention? He rarely conributes to posts that he's not in 'control' of His best 'wind ups' are aimed at hard core hezbullah soul boys. He's great but is a total imposter long may he wind us up. So who is wpaulvandyke? Edited June 10, 2006 by soulfulsaint

I will end up with all his records when he is gone There is also the old person as talked about in my dad well maybe 54 is old in numbers but never looks it. Would it be worth for my dad join this fourm aswell as me when i can just come on and post for him and myself (yes you all gonna say silly young man) maybe he is dick to you lot but my dad ain't his name is James Lastly about posting as someone said about talking about Naff acts IE Barry white who i never mentioned before and closer you get would be Kenny Thomas, Real Thing compared to my love for Jackie Wilson, Jimmy James, The Supremes, Sam cooke who i have talked about. Kirsty says i got taste in women from her post well maybe so but to me you seem nice as others on here. No doubt you will all read this and laugh at me. Oh and lastly don't need a jacket already got one lol paul/matthew, i remember you posting ages ago that your dad was called james wallace - on a jimmy wallace thread. you keep on posting, mate, it's great to have younger people getting into the music. as for naff acts, we all start somewhere and every single person on here likes 'naff' records, 'naff acts' and started out knowing absolutely nothing about soul music. we're all on the same road mate, some people are further down it than others but it's the same road (and every time you think you can see the end you check the sat nav and find you've only just bloody set out) Edited June 13, 2006 by Dan

Guest Netspeaky Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 Nothing wrong with Barry White, just think of some of them 60's production he was involved with. Keep posting Paul, without yours they all get a little too serious.

I have far better things to worry about and plenty of friends. I shall just go out to all Northern soul nights here and meet friends who i got to know through dad and dance to the music, enjoy myself and that's all i care for.

Just been to the one in Regional college with Dean Parrish singing live hi paul, i also live in peterborough, about 2 years now, i support all the local venues even though the music policy is very predictable, been djin for a few years n find it very hard to get to dj at local clubs......because i play original 45s you said you go to the fleet, is your dad the guy that wears a denim jacket with soul patches on? who also does mobile discos? up the posh russ
soulfulsaint Posted June 17, 2006 Author Posted June 17, 2006 mathew - since i started this post and made the point about you being charming and a breath of fesh air then it was clear no offence was intended. Sorry i got the Barry White reference wrong. But he remains naff in every sense of the word (and a great soul singer). You can be both in fact many old singers are now very naff and geniuses. Keep on posting I always read you and will always be a big fan of the Wallace clan.
Guest WPaulVanDyk Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 oh yeah that's my dad who goes to the fleet and wears denim jacket with patches on it. Same as me. We go to as many as we can hear but most of them being Fleet, right track soul club, post office have them on we go to and some of the odd few in town when at old still etc. don't know why but keep thinking Russ is the one i know always dancing and attends almost everyone locally and far away

Guest Baz Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 ......the peterborough plot thickens....and its charming charcaters act out further fantasies of the imagination...still reading... Peterborough is the scene for many around that area Not saying that in a bad way its just stuck in a constant time warp, but the punters enjoy it so it dont really matter
Russoul1 Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Peterborough is the scene for many around that area Not saying that in a bad way its just stuck in a constant time warp, but the punters enjoy it so it dont really matter i agree with you baz, as i now live in peterborough and SUPPORT the local scene as much as i can i am getting bored at listening to the same stuff n djs, dont get me wrong there are some great venues, with healthy followings and yes i do love to hear the classics, but as a collector,dj come on promoters lets give some other local djs a chance to play, you never know you might like what you hear i always remember when i was djin at the l.e.l soul club ,st.ives our guest for the night was carl fortnum, we got talking he said to me and i quote " your from peterborough and play original 45s " here endith my story baz russ
Dave Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 I'm getting well pissed off with reading that every event in Peterborough is an oldies-fest! Baz, you know thats not the case! Russ, if you want to hear something/somebody different you could do at the Restless events, but so far you have chosen not to. Fair enough, but don't tar everyone with the same brush until you've tried it. Same thing with this playing originals jive... I play nothing else and as far as I know everyone else at Restless has done the same. You want to be very careful what you say... are you honestly going to tell us that no pressings/dubs/CDs have been played at St Ives?
Guest Baz Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 I'm getting well pissed off with reading that every event in Peterborough is an oldies-fest! Baz, you know thats not the case! Oh bit touchy today arnt we sir Yep i know thats not the case, what i was pointing out was the many bit, not every one, you offer summin differnt but the differnce in attendancys (all though Restless is very well attended) it dont get the same amount as somthing more associated with Peterborough, and for them it is the center of the scene, hope i've explained myself a bit better now P.S dont hurt me
Dave Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Oh bit touchy today arnt we sir Yes.... I lost money on the Czech game! I'm not sure they were the original players!

Funnily enough Dave, I have suggested that Paul give Restless a try so that he can hear something a little different from the normal fayre served up at a lot of the Peterborough nights I personally thought it was a cracking night and hope to return

Guest WPaulVanDyk Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 Well anyone in Peterborough will you tell you this no matter how much it remains the same we are all happy and enjoy ourself. There are so many who are nice enough you get to know and then as soon as they introduce you to someone else your like one big happy family. Maybe my next trip is Skegness
