Mike Shawe Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 (edited) I have just received an upfront promo of Alexander O'Neal 'Lord' and imho I think it is pretty damn good. I did hear it out a few months back in it's original form I believe, but it's had some new mixes courtesy of Bah Samba who give it a club edge that still retains the soulfulness. Reckon it's gonna do pretty well on the floors and I'm roadtesting it this weekend. Has anyone elese heard these new mixes and what do they think? My personal favourite is the 'Bah Samba Mix' Edited June 9, 2006 by mikeshawe

Cunnie Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 stirred my interest, are there any links to the new mixes online or any chance of posting a brief clip either way let us know how it goes down Here you go Mike. This link takes you to the Traxsource site. Think that's the only place you're gonna get it before it's release date in July. Pretty good re-mix but most of the Bah Samba stuff can't be faulted. https://www.traxsource.com/index.php?act=sh...itle_id&cv=3559
Jason S Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 (edited) Clipped this off a Deep House podcast floating around on the web for ease of use...not the whole thing but an idea. Actually that's not the same mix as the bah samba one...it's the Bah Sonic one (just checked back)Alexander_O_Neal___Lord.mp3 Edited June 9, 2006 by J-Brew
Mike Shawe Posted June 9, 2006 Author Posted June 9, 2006 Will do! I'm guessing it will work nicely. It has the hooky Cheryl Lynn sample so it's got that 'feelgood' factor but also a credible, soulfulness to appeal to the more discerning of us imo. stirred my interest, are there any links to the new mixes online or any chance of posting a brief clip either way let us know how it goes down
Epic Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 (edited) Been playing it at Family Tree nights - getting a good response - Bah Samba mix is the only one to play. The Cheryl Lynn - "Got To Be Real" sample bubbling away in the background gives the record its appeal. Edited June 9, 2006 by epic
Jerry Hipkiss Posted June 10, 2006 Posted June 10, 2006 Heard this on the way to Worcester last saturday - if i hadn't have been sitting down my knees would have gone weak...and that was before the vibes break kicked in! Superb...and in the collection now! Don't ask Hippo.
ockers Posted June 11, 2006 Posted June 11, 2006 Hi Mike thanks to EPIC its been played at Seaside Soul Club nights along with the tom moulton ron hall remix vocal cut great stuff and threw it on in the modern room at the togetherness niter to a good response as you say its the bah samba mix that does it!!!!
vnicepce Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 ..not bad......for those of us with wide-ranging tastes...
Larsc Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 I've only listened to the clip on Traxsource but thought it sounded a bit generic. Boring backing, heard it so many places before.
