:hatsoff2: HI ALL....If they show clips of ENGALAND THIS ENGALAD, can I claim royalties as I'm in that? not mucking about, they should ask people who spent all day Saturday, thumbing a lift from junction 10 M1 to Wigan, just to get in, it's gonna be the same stuff as usual. DAVE K

People try to put it d-down
Just because we got around
Things they do look awful c-c-cold
I hope I die before I get to old!

This was our generation
This was our generation, baby

Why don't they all f-fade away
And don't try to dig what we all s-s-say
I'm not trying to cause a big s-s-sensation
I'm just talkin' 'bout our g-g-g-generation

Culture show maybe

From when they were filming at the Co-op Mark? I saw them downstairs interviewing, and wandering about the venue, bit of a pain in the arse to me but I understand that they're probably good advertising. If it is the culture show, I do hope they remember it's 2013 and not keep referring back to the 7Ts, we'll be as rare as world war 1 veterans soon :) Do you think we'll get a slot on the news in 40 or 50 years as the last casino goer goes to the great 'dancefloor' in the sky lol

Not if you keep on eating those breakfasts!

It was a special occasion, as they say, when in New York, do as the New Yorkians do :) I'm back on salads, humus and assorted 'very good' for you' vegetables :)

Winnie :)

PS. The bit about vegetables, salads and Humus is fabrication :)

:hatsoff2: HI ALL. I THINK MOST OF THE BABY BOOM KIDS, CHALANGED THE SYSTEM, TO PROMOTE THIER YOUTH CULTURE,IN THE HERE & NOW!

It is because we were in control of our destiny, we pushed our ideals to the point it was normal to stay up all night listening to the obscure failure of black music,

The issues that longevity of the RARE SOUL SCENE will carry on as long running underground movement, although some of the early fundamentals of the scene have been lost by many of the elders on the scene, (not me though, I can't imagine going to a all-nighter without a input of stimulants, & my record box, 2 essential aspects of self)

As for will they remember us, well no they will not, how many teenagers today, remember our parents? my old man went to war for 5 years, in the most famous battles in British history, WILL THEY REMEMBER THEM? WILL THEY F++K. DAVE K

Easier from your way Dave :D at least there were cars daan saaf in Gloucester we had to start Wednesday just after we had got back  as there were only horse and carts!

Dread to think how anyone from Scotland got there?

What about the lucky? few who worked for BR(British Rail)

Steve

Joking aside though(maybe a new topic) to what extremes would people go to get to an all-nighter nowadays?

:hatsoff2: HI ALL....Back in the mid 7ts my weekend would start on a Thursday night, when Mick Smith & myself would go to Bedford Soul Nights, Friday Wigan Casino Oldies All-Nighter, Saturday Blackpool Mecca then Wigan Casino All-Nighter, Sunday the Ritz or Samanthas All-Dayer. a few miles of travel that not many would beat?

However having no motor myself, I would thumb my way up north,  I remember one time at junction 10 M1 for ages, when this car stopped, I looked through the wIndow at my brother in law was grinning at me, he was going to Bolton he said "you should of asked" DAVE K

:hatsoff2: HI ALL.. Steve, nice one mate, however my point was more about the many people who attended the CASINO over the 7 years, but it's always the same regurgitated stuff, same people talking about "people come from all over the , Lands End to John O Groates" which is stated in all programmes on Wigan Casino,

A few years ago I saw a programme that said every body has the right to royalties if they have been filmed & the focus was on them as part of the film? also we all have the right to have our faces pixel out of any video that we applier on.

After all I was just making a point, shots of me are in the entrance, bar & outside, it was a strange night, I don't no if anybody was told the filming was to taking place before hand, but it was strange? :g: DAVE K

attachicon.gifdave & Wigan.jpg I'M THE FACE WITH LONG LEATHER HOLDING RECORD BOX,

Don't think you need to be overconcerned with pixelating that...

As to announcement.....I'm sure Mike Walker stood on stage several weeks before and asked if we wanted the cameras in, to quite a Negative response.

I have to say it wasn't a pleasant experience , as you can imagine it was one of the warmest places on a normal night , but with all the filming light on full blast , jeez !

Remember it distinctly and even had it on tape, asking for a show of hands.  They took no notice and those 2 consecutive weekends were truly awful, until 4am in the morning when the lights went off and the opportunists who were only there to jump in front of the camera f*cked off.  If you were a casino regular, watch the footage and see how many of the people you remember and how many were never seen again.

Had some fantastic nights at WC and have some great if hazy memories but it's becoming a bit like Frank Wilson DILY - a great record that's become little more than a cliche due to overkill.

Camera crew to film at northern soul bash

Written byBY LISA BUCKLEY

A CAMERA crew is to descend on a Nuneaton nightspot.

The BBC will be at the Co-op Club tomorrow (Saturday) night to record Mark Freeman’s latest Oldies Soul All Nighter.

Footage taken from the event, which starts at 8.30pm and runs right through until 6am the next morning, will feature on a forthcoming special edition of the Culture Show which is to be broadcast later in the year on BBC2.

“The BBC are filming in Stoke, Wigan and in Nuneaton for a Culture Show special on the thriving Northern Soul club scene,” explained Mr Freeman from Nuneaton who has been putting on the popular nights at the Dugdale Street-based club for the past seven years.

“Northern Soul is just getting bigger and bigger, and they wanted to film where it’s most popular, so Nuneaton was the place to go.

“And the camera crew are to stay for the duration.

“They are to do some filming in the afternoon of some of the DJs and then come back and film the night.

“The results are to be in a Culture Show special which is supposed be broadcast some time in September.”

It was back in 2006 that Mark ‘Fluff’ Freeman, launched the dance nights.

They soon became a must for local soul movers and shakers.

They now welcome people from up and down the entire country as they make a regular pilgrimage to the town.

Tomorrow’s offering will see a host of DJs take to the decks to entertain those hitting the packed out dance floor.

As well as Mr Freeman himself, there will also be Ian Jones, Daz Dakin, Dick Crop, Trickster and Sam Evans, Ian Stacey, Colin James and Andy Baskett.

Entry to the soul celebration is priced at £7 per person before 10.30pm and £10 after that time.

For more information interested parties can call 07718 496 968.

Other Oldies All Nighters for this year are to take place on October 12 and December 14.

Same here Dave about the nighters,, fundamentals are fundamentals   and an input as the other is certainly one of them, never been to a nighter(or dayer for that matter) without an input,I and where would  you be without the music itself. These days the input may well be perfecly legal prescribed as opposed to a multi coloured handfulls  straight out of the  dda..Soul music itself may be banned by the increasinly fascist state in not to many years to come but imo will still then live as an underground scene because of that but youre right memories for this scene  will be as they are for now for the folk who fought those battles and wars.
