For me it's Tony Clarke - Landslide and a story with it that may suprise is although people say it's the popular song and typical it ain't the biggest and didn't even chart in the UK or US not even R & B chart. His hit was The Entertainer.

His hit was The Entertainer. I like Lanslide I never play it anymore, but fav on Chess/Checker is Orbit Joy LoveJoy.. Full on Dancer... Why i'm here why Chess or Cheeker, why 2 names for one label .. Never asked anyone but seems a good time to ask now..
ShorterSoul Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Jo ann Garrett - whole new plan - brill record imo.. never tire of this Checker records was set up in the early 50's as a subsidiary label of Chess and concentrated on issuing gospel recordings and Argo was also started as a jazz label... Jon

Denise lesalle Love reputation... top notch The Joy Lovejoy is on Checker in the US (1960's) and Chess in the UK (1970's) The Denise Laselle is the National label - the first local label is Tarpon.
