Guest Jolly Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Could do wih some help, Folks! What is the difference between the early. Ronnie McNair" sitting in my class/pretty girl" deto Boot. Mid 70s And the original? Thanks !!
Epic Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 The first 70s "re-issue" had the instrumental of SIMC on the flip.
Pete S Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 The first 70s "re-issue" had the instrumental of SIMC on the flip. It didn't actually, the first one was the 'remix' of SIMC with ISAPG on the back, then after that came the 'proper' version on the very good repro label 1
Dave Thorley Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Wasn't it the first one that had the 'school bell' intro edited out
Guest Jolly Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Evening lads. I don't have the record. So can't compare it to anything on popsike. Anything that they can look for in the runout grooves.to tell the difference between the boot and original. Cheers Evening Dave.
Pete S Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Wasn't it the first one that had the 'school bell' intro edited out Yeah it was a completely different mix, really heavy on the bongos! Lots of complaints about it, think that's why they went ahead and did it again. I think the first one was a totally legit reissue, they just got the wrong take. Incidentally did any of you ever hear that 3rd version, a couple of years ago Chalky took Ronnie into the studio and he recorded a new vocal over the original backing track - I'd be lying if I said it was better than the original but it was almost as good as and a really nice take. I think he only made two copies, one he auctioned for charity, the other he kept, eventually selling it to me and I sold it soon after. Though now that Vinyl Carvers are back.... 1

Dave Thorley Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Has anyone ever seen a copy of The Doc Kyle Orch instrumental on Deto 2884 or is that another urban myth
Dave Thorley Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Thanks Pete. No Dave. Major step back. Again??? That's a shame, was hoping to catch up with as many of the old Scottish crew as possible over the weekend

I think the vocals are more clearer on my cut ..But Ronnie still sounded the same as he did back then .
KevH Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 The bongo mix is legal.RM did 2 takes, one with school bell ,one with bongo.Lyrically its different to the classic version as well, backing vocals different.Pity the recording is so poor.
