Hi Soul Folk, hope you're well, here's a list of Northern & Modern Soul Sevens to check out. If there's anything here that you'd like to buy then please reply through Soul Source or phone 0161 834 7783 to order or reserve an item.

1. Come On Let's Dance - FILETS OF SOUL (Savoy)...........Mint-..........................£120

2. Try Me / I'm Walking Out On Trouble - WINDSOR KING (Philips demo)........VG++........two great N.Soul beat ballad sides with massive backing.......................£20

3. Deeper In Love With You - THE O'JAYS (Neptune)..................VG++..............£12

4. Saggitarian Affair - RONNIE MCNEIR (Prodigal demo)...........Mint-..................real gem for the Modern Room, 1975 release that's as easy-going catchy as Lew Kirton's "Heaven In The Afternoon" classic, which may even have been influenced by this single.........................£15

5. Jerk Baby Jerk - CARL BURNETT & THE HUSTLERS (Carmax demo)................huge backing, with a Northern Soul JCB pushing the rhythm forward, play this after the last DJ's set and it WILL be a demolition job......................Mint-...................£85

6. I Wanna Come Home To You Baby (vocal & inst.) - TOMMY BRYANT (T-Neck)..............VG++..........from arond 1969/70, this is a none-funky T-Neck release that will please a lot of people when played. Sounds like Chuck Jackson battling it out with Junior Walker, winning ingredients for any Northern Soul pot-boiler.......£35

7. Fear Not - THE LEDGENDS (Commonwealth United demo)......................Mint-......................Crossover winner, Northern v Modern for a fast-paced 2 mins. 32 secs., who'll win? There's only one way to find out...........................£45

8. Chains Of Love / Someone Out There - CANDY & THE KISSES (Decca demo)...........two brilliant girl-group Northern Soul dancers; strong Big City Soul in every way, nothing spared in the backing or production, anyone not making a loud noise for these sessions must've been shot!..........£40

9. I Can't Make It Any More - FRESH AIR (GRT)...............VG++.............rare, white-group Northern version of Spyder Turner's MGM gem.............£40

10. Where Would you Be - TENISON STEPHENS (Chess)...............VG++.....................lovely uptempo Northern dancer right in The Radiants Chicago soul style, sounding a lot like them, not a bad sound to emulate........................£20

11. Everything's Wrong / Don't Trust Him - THE COOPERETTES (Brunswick)............VG++...............two very good Northern Soul dancers here, topside being a cover of a song done much earlier by Chubby Checker on Cameo Parkway...........................£40

12. I'll Be All Alone - BARBARA REDD (S.P.Q.R. demo)................Timi Yuro-style Northern Soul Beat Ballad dancer...............£200

13. You Blew It - FINNIGAN'S WAKE (VAL)................Mint-.......................£20

14. Ain't Got No Problems - SUNDAY (Alteen)................VG++...................upbeat Northern rarity later released on Chess........................£75

15. Wait Till I Give The Signal - THE SHIRELLES (Scepter).................VG++.................possibly their best Northern Soul dancer (maybe second to "Last Minute Miracle") and clearly trying to capture the hit sound of Motown, succeeding very well too.....................£30

16. Where Are All My Friends - HAROLD MELVIN & THE BLUENOTES (Philadelphia Int.).............Mint-..........the Northern Soul baton could be quiet easily handed on to the Philly Soul Sound of the early-to-mid 70's as there are still many gems to appreciate there with a fast pace and soul vocals guaranteed on some of the lesser-knowns still to be given the spins they always deserved..........£15

17. Operator Operator - JOHNNY BAKER (Cisco).................VG++...............£20..................early days Modern Soul dancer that was, of course, spun as Northern; this was a big Blackpool Mecca favourite that faded before its course was run. For that reason it now becomes a strong candidate for a comeback tour, any DJ looking for a "eee...... I haven't heard that for ages!" winner, this one's for you..........£20

18. All In Your Mind - THE BOBBETTES (Mayhew)...............Mint-...........neat Northern/Funk mid-paced dancer.........................£25

19. Just Ain't Good Enough - JOHNNIE TAYLOR (Beverly Glen)...................VG++....................High Class Modern Room spin, right from the intro you know you're listening to something Special, similar in many ways to the best suit money can buy........................£25

20. It Takes Love To Make Love - EBB TIDE (Sound Gems)..................Mint-................it's got that Philly Sound mentioned earlier, quality 1975 string-laden, upbeat Modern Soul dancer from a little-known vocal group who may remind you of Executive Suite, who in the two years previous had made three singles (most notably When The Fuel Runs Out) without a great deal of success, could this be them under a name change?................................£15

21. You Give Me Love To Go On - EDDIE & ERNIE (Revue)........VG++....................You might be missing this from completing your Eddie & Ernie discography, it comes into that lately thriving Northern-Funk category and is eminently playable in that sphere.......................£12

Thank you very much for looking through the list, wishing you all the very best, Carl (Beatin Rhythm).
