I presume you don't mean the guy from Cleveland who went on to lead the Drifters for years, but the Chicago guy who worked a lot with Jack Daniels.

This guy ................

If so, he gets mentioned on about 6/7 pages of the 'Chicago Soul' book BUT those entries really just skate over his full career details.

Guess Boba will have a much more full SP on his life / career.

There is a cd out of his material (Grapevine) with decent sleeve notes with his recording life in some detail I think.  He was a good friend of Dave Box so he might tell you something about him.

Hello

Dave and Val were with Johnny in church when he collapsed and died.

Obviously it was a huge shock but looking back I suppose it wasn't such a bad way to go because he was all dressed up and singing in church with friends. He could have died alone in his flat.

It's odd they all said he seemed so happy that day.

It doesn't seem right to discuss Johnny's personal situation in public but, like a lot of older artists and writers, he hadn't really worked for a long time so things weren't easy but one small blessing was that he got some belated attention before he died and he earned a few thousand dollars or more from the Grapevine album which made things a little easier for him.

But money comes and goes, it's the friendships that are most important.

I know they can be found individually but there's a ice playlist of 16 Johnny Moore tracks at the bottom of this guy's YT page
