Pete S Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Some people must think us sellers have fallen from the trees. I sold a superb copy of The Maytals - Monkey Man the other day. There was a photo of it, looking spanking new. On the other side, someone had drawn four or five dots on the centrepiece, so I said WOL on B side. This guy who bought it has just sent me a message saying he did not know that WOL meant Writing On Label (despite it being the most common phrase used in describing records), he thought it meant Wear On Label, despite the fact there was a photo showing the perfect label, and he wants a part refund. You can imagine what my reply was. I have also had someone who bought 3 records off me saying he has only received 2, despite me packing them all in the same mailer and remembering doing so. And people wonder why we don't enjoy selling on ebay. 3

Pete S Posted August 9, 2013 Author Posted August 9, 2013 As a p.s., the second case I mention above, I realised I'd sent him the 3 records but in 2 packages, I did a track and trace on both and as he said, he received the one with 2 in it but the royal mail have managed to lose the second one, so I apologise for insinuating that there may have been something underhand there. If ever you get a message that your parcel is 'progressing through their system', you'll most likely never see it again
Glynthornhill Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Funny thing is Pete out of last year parcels that have gone missing in U K have both been recorded. I have blocked selling to Italy amongst other s on Ebay - too many problems with some countries postal systems - Sure not all Italians can be dishonest but had a spate of records never getting delivered there. Re the WOL - what planet has he been on if he buys records ? Would not refund him let him take a resolution case out will prolong and gives you a chance to defend your side - and if he wants a refund has to send item back tracked and traced prior to refund. I find this weeds out the timewasters generally

I find this weeds out the timewasters generally I'll show you his actual message: Dear mayfairmenthol,Hi there, received my record in super fast time, thankyou. however I misunderstood wol, I took it to be small" wear on label", not" writing on label". I am happy to keep the record, I wondered if you might consider a part refund. kind regards Phil

You feel the listing was clear, including the photo showing the writing on the label and that the term WOL is very well-established among the record collecting community. Therefore, you do not feel it is appropriate to offer a partial refund. Maybe you could refer them to a website somewhere with a list of all these terms on like SOL, WOL, TOL (Record Collector?) and say that based on your accurate item description you hope he will be happy to give you 5 star feedback. Thank them for their custom and say you hope you can do business again in the future. I'm in a good mood this afternoon Richard

Phil the record was near mint, the label as you can plainly see by the picture has no wear whatsoever and everyone knows that WOL is the most common record grading abbreviation of the lot, if you want to return the record because it has five dots on the centre of the other side that is absolutely fine and I am happy to give you a full refund, but a part refund, I would never do that and I actually state I don't do part refunds in the advert for precisely this reason. cheers, pete 1
