mischief Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 Come accross this on Ebay, to be honest I diidn't know Benny troy had been re-issued, is nothing sacred.. but if that is the case how much https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NORTHERN-SOUL-Benny-...1QQcmdZViewItem
Guest Baz Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 Wasn't booted, far as im aware any way? looks pretty good to me, just a case of seller being miss-informed me thinks
Soul-slider Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 (edited) It WAS booted (but not on original label) in the early 80's It was backed with Bobby Bland 'Shoes'. Think the label was 'Moon Dust' and I know i've got one knocking around somewhere. Agree with Baz, looks pretty good....but a bit shiny, if seller say's it's a re-issue (or boot!!!) then presume it must be, in that case not worth £40+ what he's asking for it! There are several new lookalikes of other stuff turned up recently (Chuck Corby, Five Royals etc). Edited June 5, 2006 by Soul-Slider

They also have those anti-slip bumps arong the endge of the label. This looks like one of those UK boots that don't have a proper label i.e. the labels printed into the plastic, and the have had the typical UK small spindle hole removed by having a US style one punched out.
Guest Baz Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 . Yep does look shiny, how ever its a major lable for 75? so not hard to turn them up in mint condition, all the lookalike lately are quite high demand stuff, wouldn't say Benny was very much indemand Original demos have a stereo recording on one side, mono on the other. If you look at the yellow stripe you see DDJ - delite DJ, and in the pink stripe is says 'promotional' Many 70's boots are of the DJ copies because they were the same track (stereo / mono) and it saved having to pay for two different laquers, but they were given away by the fact that both sides were stereo, or bothmono e.g. Anderson Brothers
Guest woolie mark Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 i agree with baz - it looks ok to me unless it's been done very recently, i'd bet on it being real
Hold Tight Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Hi, also done on Boot label 1, b/w MVP's Turning my heartbeat up.!
John Al Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 Come accross this on Ebay, to be honest I diidn't know Benny troy had been re-issued, is nothing sacred.. but if that is the case how much https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NORTHERN-SOUL-Benny-...1QQcmdZViewItem Item is sold so probably too late but for the sake of clarity thought I'd try and help. I think this is original as I am not aware it was booted on this label, just the stardust one. Can't see the demand justifying the effort of a boot that sophisticated these days. Mine is definately original as I bought it as a new release in '75. It has an extended "Disco Version" on side B (both sides are stereo), a stick on label and the "anti slip" grid around the label. Markings in run out groove are DEP1572A adjacent to the De-Lite logo and JR adjacent to the left hand side of the pink stripe. Both markings are neatly etched. See attached scan - note it is not blue. Hope this helps mischief, think I'll go and play it now! John.
Guest Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 This bloke might know! Looks the real-deal to me, has the anti-slip grips around the label..£40 it's a give-away..
