Roburt Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 The messages sent by Motown people to Dave Godin's UK Motown Apprec Society (Dave used to give copies of the 45 to buyers who visited Soul City record shop back in the day) ............ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ir3z_BCSFsI 1
Simon T Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Wasn't this made at Motown for all the 'thousands' of Motown fans in the UK, and on the strength of the large number of UK fans, the Tamla Motown Review tour was give the go ahead and financed by Berry Gordy?
Simon T Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Check out 'The British Invasion' which was on BBC4, about 18 mins in
Philreeves Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 The messages sent by Motown people to Dave Godin's UK Motown Apprec Society (Dave used to give copies of the 45 to buyers who visited Soul City record shop back in the day) ............ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ir3z_BCSFsI Perhaps he may have given the 45 away in the early days in their first shop but Dave never gave me a copy. He did give me some great soul magazines when the second shop was about to close in 1970.... and lots of advice!.
Guest Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 This 45 was also re-pressed a couple of years ago on red vinyl as a giveaway with the superb, 'Hype & Soul' book by Al Abrams...a superb book it is as well!
Graym Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Wasn't this featured in an old thread with speculation about how many were actually pressed. Mentioned in Clive Richardson's book also - believed to be 300.
Davenpete Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Sure Dave said 180 (weird number I know) - anyway he gave us one when he came to stay once. Dx
