Majestics - Gwendolyn/lonely Heart On Chex

Anybody know if the attached record is a repro or a different format of an original please?

 

I came across it when sorting stuff out and wasn't sure.

 

I also have a definite original on the yellow and green Chex logo with the "Checkerboard" design which is Sheldon stamped in the deadwax.

 

This one is a light blue coloured label with the earlier "Block Lettering" design and only has scratched in matrix numbers and the words Chex in the deadwax. There is no stamp of any kind.

 

One difference is that the label on the attached picture says Nationally Distributed by Jay-Gee Record Co., Inc. which the yellow and green copy does not. So maybe it was a different copy/colour for the national deal?

 

I have seen a  scan of a similar blue copy with the Jay-Gee distribution and DJ Copy Not for Sale printed on the label, which I guess was original.

 

One reason I'm not sure is (and it was ages ago) I think it may have come from that Las Vegas seller who deals a lot of repros and had those Johnny Watsons on Valise.

 

Anyone help please?

I was around at tha time the record came out, and remember only the white cream-coloured issue with block letters, that was also picked up by Jay-Gee fro national distribution, and the yellow and green "checkerboard" issue.  i don't remember seeing the blue issue until the late 1970s or early 1980s.  That doesn't mean that it's a boot, but I don't remember Chex using blue on other issues, and would be wary of pressings with no stamps, and only "Chex" scratched on.,

I have a complete run of the label and the only blue rel. from the Sixties are both versions of Chex 1000 "Give Me A Cigarette" and "So I Can Forget". Having said that these are always dark blue not light blue as shown in that scan.

Look like a light blue demo (or a dark scan of a white one) and a white demo.

That looks to me NOT like a "light blue" demo copy, but rather, a black on pure white demo, whose colour looks a bit grayish, caused by the scanning process.  My black on white DJ copy looks like that.  I've never seen the blue one, and never seen any Chex Record without a stamp, and with "Chex" scratched on.  I've seen many Jay-Gee distributed issues on the cream-coloured block lettered Chex.  But they all had a stamp (Sheldon?), and also the record number etched on, and no "Chex".
