Staceys Dad Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 was this only a U.K.release...and any info about him and does it get played out anywhere...and value... thanks in advance.
Roburt Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 (edited) Sonny Childe was a UK based Yank (ex military I think). He did loads of club dates in the UK in the 60's, fronting the TNT. Moved back to the US around 69 / 70, changed his name to R B Greaves and had a few big hits. His Polydor stuff was produced by Claire Francis who seemed to work almost exclusively for Polydor back then (she cut loads of acts for Polydor). Edited July 29, 2013 by Roburt
Pete S Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 (edited) Yes UK only - phenomenal stomper loved by about 3 of us - produced by Claire Francis who did some cracking stuff for Polydor before going off and marrying a red Indian. Sonny Childe was Sam Cooke's nephew - or similar relation - and he had a hit two years later with Take A Letter Maria, recorded under his real name of R.B Greaves. Edited July 29, 2013 by Pete S

Roburt Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Sonny Childe was Sam Cooke's nephew - or similar relation - He CLAIMED TO BE, but I believe the Cooke family disputed his claim.
