Can someone confirm this for me please? "Mama's baby " plays in stereo, run out reads LH-9016 ST. Other side matrix reads LH-9015 CST, then in slightly backward sloping letters P 1972 B & B RECORDS.

Is it legit or a boot?

Sounds the same as mine, and I Didn't think it had ever been booted. To my memory, it was never expensive, or that popular - although I've always liked it and posted it on record of the day not long back.

There's enough dealers on here that should know Jerry, Pete Smith (Pete S) is always a good bet for info.

Every day is still a school day for me it seems!

Always though mine was real, and no one has ever told me any different, even when played out!

I thought I may be able to shed some light on this, but am not confident now. I thought I had a boot (by way of being purchased from a Mansfield shop in the 70s that had many boots pinned up on the wall) and an orig (by way of being purchased as such from a reputable USA dealer). I don't think i've bothered comparing these, as mentioned above not an expensive record so no urgency in my mind.

Saw this thread and thought I'd check to see if I could help?

Both have exactly the same run-out as referred to above. JM 5th Ed has one down as a second press and mentions poor label print. That fits in with what I'm looking at that I presumed was a boot. The label is pitted.

This is what I think is 2nd press or boot. Pitted label, LH-9016 ST is above B&B on label, similar on COD flip. ALSO NOTE PRODUCED BY / HORN ARR BY IS WITHIN LABEL TRAMLINE DESIGN

This is what I think is a first press/ orig. Label smooth, deeper blue (not really clear on pic but heading more towaqrds a midnight /ink blue than ble of other label. NOTE THE INFO OUTSIDE OF TRAMLINE DESIGN. Mama's baby run out detail is at 11-0-Clock, COD run out info is at 2 to 3-0-Clock

Hope that's useful.

Cheers for that Dean - like you, mine was bought back at the time it was getting plays, looks like mine IS the boot (or repress because of the label differences?)...not that I really thought otherwise... :g:
