What a vocal this sadly under-recorded lady has, give her the platform of a funky arrangement provided by The Richi Corbin Trio and you’re treated to blood n’ guts Deep Funk! Wild ear-piercing Sister vocal, is backed up by a male vocal-harmony group who are quickly joined by a girl choir, but it’s Barbara’s mighty voice that rips it way through the session with crushing power. Discovered as a 45 in the unlikely location of Ohio this Canadian only release was soon heading all the Northern Soul wants lists, but still to this day only a handful of copies are known. Click the sound file to unleash Mary “Take My Heart” Saxton’s outcome of spending time in the presence of iconic producer Gary S. Paxton, the man Phil Spector feared most of stealing his “producing crown” “Losibng Control” is exactly that - it is searing Nortern Soul totally out of control, an acrobatic inducing slab of the proper-stuff.
