It was recorded round about the same time (I think) as Gold Of My Life, but it was never cut to vinyl, until Elijah Cole decided to re release Gold Of My Life, and he released a few things that he had engineered from back in the day that had never been originally released at the time. 4
Jim Ohara Posted July 11, 2013 Author Posted July 11, 2013 Somebody just put it up for sale in the sale section Yes missed that one earlier

Jim Ohara Posted July 13, 2013 Author Posted July 13, 2013 FFS it's not that rare that nobody want to sell me one?
NEV Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 FFS it's not that rare that nobody want to sell me one? And here was me thinking that your opening post ..no silly prices and please ,no make me a decent offer ! Would have had people throwing copies at you ? Think in hindsight ,you'd have been better stating your price limit for Nm It's £40 tops IMHO and as far as I'm aware you can probably contact Mr Cole ,or his nephew, or whoever is running the empire at the moment ,and I'm sure he will sort you out a copy straight away ! 3
Jim Ohara Posted July 13, 2013 Author Posted July 13, 2013 I thought the same Nev, missed 3 in the last week 25, 30 and 40 - so I think you are spot on with tops £40 I've mailed them direct, but just thought as there were 3 for sale in the last week on SS, then I thought it may have been easy enough to pick one up!!! Best Jim
Chalky Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 Isn't it his daughter who is now running family affairs?
Tommy1 Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 (edited) great record, whats the craic with this one? Is it the first time it was put to vinyl? i guess what im getting at is is it legit to play out. I guess I can brag about being the reason for E Cole releasing this. I had a lot of contact with him 9 years ago when I tried to get a copy of "Gold of my life" and he sent me 5. I asked if he had other stuff from the band and he sent me a tape (really bad sound) with "Am I imposing" and I was stunned and told him he HAD to put this on a 45. A few weeks later I got 5 copies of it with part I and part II on the other side, but when I put it on the turntable it sounded shit and not playable, it sounded like it was recorded directly from the tape. I asked him to use the real master tape and there you go, it was released again with a different take of "Can you feel the funk" on the B-side. I'll make a scan of the first press if anyone is interested? And yes Chalky, it's his daugther who runs the "business" now, I even got a 45 of her doing some Hip Hop Edited July 13, 2013 by Tommy1 2

I'll make a scan of the first press if anyone is interested? And yes Chalky, it's his daugther who runs the "business" now, I even got a 45 of her doing some Hip Hop Yes, I had one of those first presses, truly awful, I think I pursuaded my bro dave to play it at Prestatyn because even though it sounded shit, you could still tell it was a monster tune. I had it sent to me from a guy in Germany who I'm not sure but might have been a boyfriend of the daughter. He asked me for my feedback on the record, so I told him it was a great track but shit mastering on the 45. A couple of months later out of the blue he sent me a couple of copies of the newly mastered release, and boy what a difference. The production on the 45 is absolutely fantastic. As Jason Stirland will testify, Elijah Cole might be as mad as a box of frogs now, but boy oh boy, he knew what he was doing in a recording studio because all the recordings are crystal clear and superbly done. 1

Andybellwood Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 (edited) Hindsight is a wonderful thing- when I got mine direct I was asked how many would you like? Stunning 45, better than 'Gold..' (IMHO). As a 'new' release played it at Blackpool and Kings Hall Windsor Suite - with a rush to the decks, such was the enthusiastic reaction. Edited July 15, 2013 by andybellwood 1
