purist Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 In my inbox was the following email purportedly from Ady. I first read it and thought how awful, then I got suspicious. Anyone know for sure?
Pete S Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Totally bogus, being doing the rounds for ages, sounds convincing but it's a fake - I received it too

Anyone know for sure? bad moment.jpg There's a thread running on this already - apparently Ady's email account has been hacked. So its a wrong un! P

purist Posted July 1, 2013 Author Posted July 1, 2013 So have we all allowed access to our email accounts by opening this email? have all of us who read it now got this problem?
Mick Holdsworth Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 So have we all allowed access to our email accounts by opening this email? have all of us who read it now got this problem? I don't think so John, the senders would just rely on you replying to them and arranging a money transfer to their Western Union, and "Not Ady" would say, cheers but can you make it out to my good friend "XXXXX" instead as he/she/it just happens to have their proof of identity all ready to hand. Cheers Mick
Kevinkent Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 So have we all allowed access to our email accounts by opening this email? have all of us who read it now got this problem? Surely that is just a screenshot, a cut and paste job, and doesn't connect you in any way to the mail link. Hope that's the case anyway. -Kev
purist Posted July 1, 2013 Author Posted July 1, 2013 I just had my laptop go a bit mental and it opened my email programme in about half a dozen windows???? seems like a virus to me the screen shot was grabbed from my inbox, so yes i opened the original email. worried of wolves
Tobytyke Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Purist. im no computer expert but isnt it time you cleared out your spam?
Reg Scott Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Major problem reported widely in the news regarding Yahoo / BY Yahoo security being broken and email accounts accessed - obviously then huge spam attacks on going from and to any account in the hacked contacts.. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/epic/btdota/10089355/BT-dumps-Yahoo-email-after-hacking-claims.html
Gene-r Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 (edited) The 100 Club 34th anniversary is soon approaching - be sure to hear some unreleased acetates from Manilla get their first airing (subject to Ady being able to get the loan to come home)! Edited July 1, 2013 by Gene-R 1
Ady Croasdell Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Nearly sorted now people, I hadn't realised it was the BT Yahoo hacked first. I've changed my password a couple of times and think it's OK now. Thanks to all those who contacted me and sympathised or advised. Ady PS I've not seen any evidence of a virus just the scam. I had one from Mary Love like this about 3 years ago.
Premium Stuff Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Glad you sorted it out Ady. All you need to do now is just send me back that £2,450 I sent you 1
Gene-r Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 Same thing happened to my hotmail account last year - ended up having to delete all my contacts so they stopped receiving hacked emails from 'me'.
