Pete S Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Here's a collection of acetates and unissued versions, mainly Northern Soul but also including some girl group gems and a couple of beat tracks as well. Some may have now been released, I know Pixies Three, Ad Libs and Ellie Greenwich have, the rest, I don't know, it's just over an hour of 'interesting' tracks and versions to kill a bit of time. Gloria Jones for instance, it's a different mix and is much longer than the 45. I should just add that most of these are freely available to download on youtube, the rest are from my collection. GLORIA JONES - TAINTED LOVE (ALT) THE LOLLIPOPS - HE'S THE BOY UNKNOWN ARTIST - HIS LOVE IS AMAZING UNKNOWN ARTIST - LONG TWINE PIXIES THREE - SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL AD LIBS - YOU'LL ALWAYS BE IN STYLE WRECKING CREW - WRECKING CREW THEME FRANK WILSON - TELL ME CLARE TORRY - DO I JIMMY BISHOP TRIO - IF YOU CAN'T BE TRUE JEWEL & THE McCRACKLIN BAND - I WANT LOVE BABY LITTLE CARL & THE DETROIT HITMEN - THE TINGLE DEE DEE SHARP - I'LL DO ANYTHING THE ENCORES - HEARTS BEATING STRONGER (BACKING TRACK) TEENA & THE FIESTAS - YOU'RE THE REASON MY HEART BEATS ELLIE GREENWICH - CALL ME HIS SHARON McMAHON - WHERE THERE IS LOVE TIMI YURO - SPOIL ME ANDY FISHER - MY HEARTS BEATING STRONGER FLASH McKINLEY - JUST AIN'T FAIR VAN McCOY - HEY LOVER DORIS TROY - BUT I LOVE HIM MARVA JOSIE - JOEY'S KISSES NOONEY RICKETT - A MAN NEEDS LOVE MERRY CLAYTON - I STRUCK A MATCH DEREK MARTIN - PUT SOME LOVE INTO MY LIFE JIMMY RADCLIFFE - THIS DIAMOND RING THE ACTION - GIRL WHY YOU WANNA MAKE ME BLUE THE RONETTES - BABY LET'S BE LOVERS JAY BLACK - WALK AWAY LIKE A WINNER https://www.mixcloud.com/mayfairmenthol/rare-acetates-unreleased-tracks/
Simon T Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Thanks for putting those up. Some of the unreleased instrumentals knocking around are a bit tedious, have you heard the instrumental of 'Eddie's My Name' - dire. 1

The Harthon instrumentals are very basic aren't they. I really like the Phil Spector one though.
Guest Dave from Derby Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Been trying and looking for ages to find a copy of Sharon McMahon Where Is The Love, even if there was one it would be out my price range lol
Guest palmtreerecords Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 great mix. I've got a M- promo copy of the Andy Fisher single up on the 'bay now.
Pete S Posted September 28, 2013 Author Posted September 28, 2013 (edited) great mix. I've got a M- promo copy of the Andy Fisher single up on the 'bay now. If you have a listen, it's a totally different version to the one on Fat Fish, a very early version, a bit faster, different arrangement. From a Screen Gems-Columbia acetate.
