Steve Foran Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Just thinking about this the other day. Not seen one for yonks. Just wonder if anyone knows the story behind this boot. Seems to be scarce nowadays. Anyone know anything about it? Please?
Pete S Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Just thinking about this the other day. Not seen one for yonks. Just wonder if anyone knows the story behind this boot. Seems to be scarce nowadays. Anyone know anything about it? Please? Must have been done in 74 or 75 because I bought it in early 76 and it was 'rare' then, I paid £8 for it and sold it for £10 at Wigan, that was a lot of money in those days. I think it was pressed by the same people who did the Edie Walker as "Patience Valentine"
Mick Holdsworth Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 There appears to be a brand new press of this boot about - one on eBay now - looks the same but smaller UK style labels.
45cellar Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 As Pete has already mentioned, 74 / 75 Press looks to be from the same source as this BOOT
Steve Foran Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 Funny how your memory plays tricks. Thought it was more Purple in colour. Thanks chaps.
Mick Holdsworth Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 It was actually done twice in the 70's. There's a pink label, where for some reason both sides were mastered even though it was the same song, with A and B matrices. The was then a more purple copy, remastered again but only once, and both sides have the same matrix. That was it until a few weeks ago when the shrunken labels started appearing, from the same place that do all the modern boots etc. These are the three labels, earliest on the left Cheers Mick 1

EVEN THO ITS A BOOTLEG..IT'LL BE WORTH SOMETHING ONE DAY..' IT JUST STUCK IN MY MIND....
Guest Garry Huxley Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 i'm sure the first time i heard the original was at whitchurch early 73 being played by soul sam, if i remember right he had just got it, i was age 15 at the time and i sold it about a year later for £5 what ,a privilage to have mentors like sam, spook, brian rae, gary powel and later all the top dj,s during the late 70's and 80's
Rich B Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 I had one in '74. Purchased from Selecta and very much in the style of many boots of the time - looked just like the Edie Walker/Patience Valentine. I always assumed they originated from Mr S. Along with the Tomangoes it always seemed relatively scarce as boots go.
