We know this, there was a topic about it last week where it was identified well before the end of the auction

Saying that, you need to do your homework before buying any record, let alone an "unknown" whether it be on ebay or not.

There's absolutely nothing 'poor', in either sense of the word, about someone who bids over $1000 for a record without knowing what they're bidding on. It's not the responsibility of the seller to know anything other than what's printed on the record.

But if he's still listing it as "unknown artist" having been informed who the artist is?  That's not right.

He didnt say it was unreleased, or that the artist is unknown to everyone, that's an impossible claim to make so it's implied that it's just unknown to him. It's not 'nice' but then maybe he doesn't feel obliged to be nice to foolish buyers so desperate for something new to outdo their nerdy mates that they bid $1000 for this dud. The phrase tough shit springs to mind, buying records is so easy nowadays any idiot can build a decent collection, you cant hold peoples hands through it even more.

Nah,.........he's implying that it's unknown, and not just to him, knowing that a fool and his money are easily parted IMO. And if the artist is made known to him then he should alter his description and be honest about it.

What am i saying!.....we're talking ebay and Northern soul :wicked:

Have to agree with this, doesn't matter if you're spending £10 or £1000 on a record, do the research!  If I was contemplating buying something like that I'd be putting variations of the title into search engines, asking other people if they'd heard of it etc.

The Ebay seller put audio on the ad. So they were hardly being shady.

Amazes me that someone went crazy enough to pay $1009 for this having actually heard it. Even if it were a one off....those army overtones...really corny.
