Philb Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Has this ever been booted or reissued on Broadway as there seems to be two different face types on the labels. Cheers, Phil.
Gene-r Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 (edited) Don't think it was booted. However, the copy I had in 1986, before it was known, was a vinyl press (rather than styrene), which looked only about 6 months old. It did have a 5-digit Monarch matrix though, dating it to early-1966. Looked like this, as opposed to the lined demo which looks like the credits were typed on an old electric typewriter. Chalky Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Bloke if you ask me, never considered it to be a girl?
Gene-r Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 (edited) Cheers Gene, is the lined demo styrene then? Good question Phil - don't know, to be really honest. Probably not, but maybe pressed on a different quality of vinyl. Edited June 21, 2013 by Gene-R
Gointoagogo Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Is it not a girl? I always assumed it was Sherry & the Inverts
Chalky Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Is it not a girl? I always assumed it was Sherry & the Inverts Gonna have to go and have a listen now
Lionelonthevinyl Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Sounds like a man to me, but I've been known to be wrong on more than one occasion!!.........Rob
Lionelonthevinyl Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 I mean that with singing genre nothing else!!.......Rob
Philb Posted June 21, 2013 Author Posted June 21, 2013 Bloke if you ask me, never considered it to be a girl? Definitely a fella if you ask me. 1
Gointoagogo Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 No it's definitely a girl - I agree that on 1st hearing she sounds like a guy. Listen to look out love on Tower - its a girl. B side of look out love is lonely lover which is same as b side of time will change. It's Sherry & the inverts
Chalky Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 (edited) Sherry is Geralene Toomer and she is definitely lead on Look Out Love. However not so sure on Time Will Change but I'm only listening on the iPad so not easy to listen properly. Edited June 21, 2013 by chalky

boba Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 it's a woman with a deep voice. 100%. male group backing.
Rbman Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 Anyone got one for sale? That is the best thing I've heard in a long time?

I always assumed it was Sherry & the Inverts I'm certain The Inverts were all male, and the lead certainly sounds like a man. The name "Sherry and The Invert" rings a bell. But, she may have been no more a member of The Inverts than Irma was of The Larks.
Bitchdj Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 i have the lined copy which is pressed ever so slightly off centre it doesnt affect the playback until about the last 4 revs... odd that Quote and it sure sounds like a bloke singing to me...but male female no matter its absolutely sublime!
Dave Pinch Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 sounds like male to me too.....reminds me of an era on the scene long gone
Gointoagogo Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 lol - still confusion on this. I think it is a given that the lead on Look Out love is female - I also believe that the it is the same lead on and Time Will Change so my money is on it being a woman. 1
