The New Bloods ‘Found A Love, Where It’s At’ / ‘Self Service’ (20th Century / USA / 1960s / VG+) £8

( Few scuffs — minimal — sl. label damage to flip — total bargain price for this awesome double-sider from Eddie & Ernie ‘incognito’… )

Ernie K. Doe ‘Dancing Man’ (Action (swirl) / UK / 1968 / VG+) £15

( Tuff, tough original UK red/yellow label press for the devilishly good 45 — memories of Brainfreeze….scuffed wax and some scribble to label but still a beautiful thang… )

Nino Tempo & 5th Ave. Sax ‘Sister James’ (A&M / UK / 1973 / M-) £15

( Unplayed copy of this H-U-G-E Northern instrumental…. )

Barbara Lewis ‘Don’t Forget About Me’ (Atlantic (black) / UK / 1965 / VG+) £8

( Great OG black label press for this NS midtempo evergreen… )

The Showstoppers ‘Ain’t Nothing But A House Party’ / ‘What Can A Man Do’ (Beacon / UK / VG) £5

( Again — a total ‘dinosaur’ NS oldie — lotsa scuffs and some crackle but NO pops / jumps — ok…. )

The Young Holt Trio ‘Wack Wack’ (Brunswick / USA / 1060s / M-) £8

( Stunning copy — best one I’ve ever had…. )

The Soulful Strings ‘Burning Spear’ (Cadet / USA / 1960s / M-) £10

( Unplayed copy… )

Michael Prowtle ‘What You’re Looking For Is Here’ (Castle / USA / 1983 / M-) £25

( Unplayed copy of this superb Modern Soul dancer… )

Kip Anderson ‘If That Don’t Make You Cry’ (Checker / USA / 1966  M-) £10

( Fantastic Northern dancer — needs a revival……. )

Z.Z. and Company ‘Getting Ready For The Getdown’ (Columbus / USA / 1979 / M-) £150

( 100% original ‘thick-edged’ copy of this stunning Modern Soul monster….bought from Ian Clark so 100% OG copy... )

Nat Kendrick and the Swans ‘(Do The) Mashed Potatoes pts 1 & 2’ (Dade / USA / 1960s / VG+) £10

( Fantastic R&B — Club monster — few scuffs here and there so half-priced… )

Tom Jones ‘Stop Breaking My Heart’ (Decca / UK / 1966 / VG+) £5

( Rare? Naaaah…Good? Oh, yeah….Tom’s second best NS tune (after the peerless ‘Chills And Fever’) and a country mile better than ‘Looking Out My Window’ — give the man some love, he’s been right there for nearly 50 years…

Buddy Colette ‘Sister Of Satan’ (Denise / USA / 1960s / VG+) £15

( Fantastic Popcorn cut — huge demand at the moment — great copy here….I’d date it at about 1962? )

The Flirtations ‘Nothing But A Heartache’ (Deram / Spain / 1969 / Ex/VG+) £20

( Superb item with a totally ‘6T’s period’ pic sleeve of the girls — my first-ever copy and *only* ever issued in Spain with a pic bag — the sleeve is just slightly yellowed and the wax is a bit scuffed but pretty damned good — I’ve seen this @ £50+ on Northern lists — but not from Mark Rez… )

Thomas Hall ‘You Told Me A Lie’ (Diamond / USA / 1965 / M-) £25

( Tough promo copy of this wonderful NS dancer — slight edge warp which dnap in any way, shape or form… )

The Bubbles ‘The Wasp’ (Duke / UK / 1960 / VG) £15

( UK issue of the Jamaican original (Melodisc?) I’d call this ‘Slow Ska’ or even ‘Jamaican Jazz’ — perfect for the strollers on the dancefloor and set at a great tempo for today’s Northern scene too — set at just above walking pace — I can see this being popular with the Popcorn folks too — a banger….would also make a great ‘ender’ at a NS all nighter too — I could well imagine Ady spinning this down at the 100 Club… )

The Jewels ‘Papa Left Mama Holding The Bag’ / ‘This Is My Story’ (Dyna-Mite / USA / 1960s / VG+) £30

( Rare James Brown production/s here — highly regarded and massively sought-after — killer Funky / Jump Blues / R&B on topside and immaculate Deep Soul on flip — some label rubbing but nothing major — wax is unplayed… )

Betty Everett ‘Keep It Up’ (Fantasy / UK / 1975 / M-) £10

( Believe me — this funky-jam is rare on 7” with this UK press being even tougher than the USA issue — stunning grooves…. )

James Davis ‘Bucket Head’ / ‘Doodle Bee’ (Federal / USA / 1960s / VG+) £30

( Murder rare James Brown R&B production on a WDJ copy here too — some scuffs and minor crackle here and there but still a damned fine copy…. )

King Ernest Baker ‘Somebody Somewhere (Is Playing With Yours)’ (voc/inst) (Funk / USA / 1970s / M-) £25

( Great Deep Funk outta Chicago — both sides smash it — from the same guy who gave us the massive Modern Soul tune ‘Alone Again’ on Blue Soul — if anything, the instrumental edges it here for me — powerhouse 45… )

El Gran Combo ‘Shake It Baby’ / ‘Chua-Chua Boogaloo’ (Gema / Dominican Republic / 1960s / VG) £40

( Sadly — this is waaaay off M-, otherwise the price would be double from me — 2 incredibly good Latin Soul-Funk sides — ‘Shake It Baby’ is simply one of the best Latin-Soul cuts I’ve ever heard — dancefloor magic and would actually sound great on any scene — Northern, Popcorn, Latin etc — stunning — flip is ace also — pure Boogaloo from the old school — hard rhythms and amazing percussion whipping up a storm — very likely my first-ever record from the Dominican Republic too — this record ain’t pretty to look at but plays really well all through with no major problems at all…huge piece… )

Tommy G and the Charms ‘I Know What You Want’ (Hollywood / USA / 1960s / VG+) £25

( Nice WDJ copy of this NS belter — with a strong R&B edge…again — some scuffs but still a good copy…

Huey Smith & The Clowns ‘You Got Too pts 1 & 2’ (Instant / USA / 1960s / VG+) £50

( New one on me…and…I’m glad to finally make it’s acquaintance….killer Deep Funk from an unlikely source — heavy, heavy skins action, screeching vox from Huey and the most wonderful girlie backing vox from his gals — both sides just smash it…few scuffs here and there — has gone for £100+, believe me — superb drumbreak midway in — pure sleaze…. )

Na Allen ‘Open The Door To Your Heart’ / ‘I Was Telling Her About You’ (Janus / USA / 1972 / M-) £20

( Immaculate Xover double-sider — appears unplayed… )

( Cracking Funky-Blues — tiny edge warp — minimal… )

Lester Sterling ‘Casa Blanca’ (Kaya / Jamaica / 1970s / Ex+) £20

( Always a joy when this walks in my door — it’s actually a Reggae version of ‘The Sidewinder’ — you have to actually know the title or you’d miss it every time — wonderful, wonderful ‘summer’ sound and some of the sweetest brass on the whole list…recommended… )

Leon Austin ‘Two Sided Love’ / ‘I’m Mad’ (King (blue) / USA / 1967 / M-) £20

( Unplayed copy in correct custom sleeve — raucous R&B / Soul / Funk…in correct custom sleeve…. )

Roger Hatcher ‘We Gonna Make It’ / ‘High Blood Pressure’ (Mint / UK / 1976 / M-) £5

( Unplayed demo copy here… )

Hank Ballard and the Midnighters ‘Let’s Go, Let’s Go, Let’s Go’ / ‘If You’d Forgive Me’ (Parlophone / UK / 1960s / VG+) £15

( Rare UK Parlophone press for this raucous R&B floorshaker — nice deepie on flip — dinked middle and a bit scuffed but still good value @ fifteen quid… )

Chuck Jackson ‘Just A Little Tear’ / ‘I Can’t Break Away’ (Probe / UK /1983 / M-) £10

( Quality Modern Soul double-sider from Chuck — immaculate copy here in correct custom sleeve… )

Willie Kendrick ‘You Can’t By Pass Love’ / ‘Give Me Lots Of Lovin’ (RCA / USA / 1966 / VG-) £30

( Sadly — this WD copy of an amazing NS double-sider outta Detroit is a lonnng way from M-, it’s scuffed up badly and actually has a little edge crack (which I’ve fixed as best I can) but unfortunately ticks for a few revolutions (very faintly) — this is why it’s priced very, very low….grab a bargain…. )

Dave Collins ‘Ride Your Pony’ (Rhino / UK / 1972 / VG+) £8

( Dinked copy of this ace Funky Reggae version of the Aaron Neville / Allen Touissaint cut — few scuffs but plays very, very well… )

King Earnest ‘You Gonna Miss Me’ / ‘The Soul Stroke (Can You Handle It)’ (Sonic / USA / 1970 / VG) £150

( Again — sadly not M- or this one would be nearer the £300 mark from me — lotsa scuffs and some background crackle here and there during the quieter parts — but — thankfully, this is SO raucous that there are very, very few quiet parts so you hardly notice it — not for the faint-hearted — right up there with THE very best Deep Funk 45s ever played on that scene… )

The Freeman Brothers ‘My Baby’ / ‘Beautiful Brown Eyes’ (Soul / USA / 1965 / VG+) £15

( Great Northern double-sider — few scuffs here and there so sensibly priced — also a bit of scribble to topside so please be forewarned… )
