Guest Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 (edited) Unclebeat and nod looks well iffy think your spot on here ! Edited May 28, 2006 by Mr M
Modernsoulsucks Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 I once saw Jackie Wilson "I get the sweetest feeling" on regular US brunswick reach $100 with two people bidding against each other. Is this not just the same. It gets personal sometimes. ROD
FrankM Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Goofbay gives it a "possible" shill bid https://www.goofbay.com/getShillBidders.htm...09&submit=Check

I have to say, I've sold 3 (I think) copies of Competition on Ebay in the last 6 months and all have gone for 25-30 So I guess that is its current price Edited May 29, 2006 by paultp
Guest Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 £20 according to Manships book, wish I could remember what I paid LOL not a lot I wouldn't think
pikeys dog Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 That Goofbay tool is dangerous... I've just looked up item# 4885582231 It's Ruby - Feminine Ingenuity - a popular record, which will attract plenty of bids. The tool has flagged up two instances of "Signs of Shill Bidding" - now I know the second one '3174steve' and he's as honest as the day is long... if he's bidding, it's so he can buy it to sell or trade on... This makes him look like he's some kind of baby-eating ruffian. Not good I.M.O.
Guest dundeedavie Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 very interesting , i have just looked at something i WAS bidding on and found a DEFINATE case of shill bidding . i shall be removing my bid i think
Guest Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Yes one thing with schill bidding if you go too far and dont get a higher bidder then its more costs with a finishing fee? Also if you have won from the seller before goofbay might interpret that as some sort of funny business when its nothing of the kind. Its a difficult one to pinpoint as a deffinate shannanigan! Suppose really if someone wants the disc and he is prepared to pay more than its worth he will. Its allways best to stick to your limit that your willing to go to. If you win it you win it,if you dont you dont !... leave it at that. But for some the temptation especially if its one that dosent come up too often is just too much . Then everyone else re-evaluates there copy and so on! Its a hard one!
Guest Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Hi Guys, Just thought I'd join and explain a little... I'm Matt, from Goofbay.... The multiple (shill) bidder tool is by no means a definative answer...it can only ever report on multiple bids by a user on another users items. https://www.goofbay.com/getShillBidders.htm...item=4885582231 The item above I would not really think is shilling as the bidders have won several of the others, it just happens that you regularly bid on items from the same supplier. Bold numbers are ones that have been won, a good shill bidder would never win his/hers own items and so would show a load of bids that didnt win. It really is down to your own gut feeling...but as it says on Goofbay "Our shill bidding report is not a definative answer to whether an eBay user is shill bidding, it is only intended as a guide, make of it what you will and bid wisely. " Any questions just ask matt@goofbay.com
Modernsoulsucks Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 (edited) I just used the link earlier in the thread to check on the auction where I won Barbara Lewis this time. Im down as a possible shillbidder when in fact I was trying to win the 45 after some dodgy goings on with previous auction [see Ebay Jokers]. So Matt how do I download this tool and I think a bit of work required yet if data is to be analysed correctly. ROD Edited May 29, 2006 by modernsoulsucks
Guest Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Hi Matt ! Thanks for coming on, Goofbay is very interesting in many respects however some of these record sellers are pretty quick off the mark! Allready aware of goofbay what they do is to deliberately miss spell Norther soul on one or two of there auctions so as to display there auctions on your sight !? which seems a fair enough tactic. However ebay isnt just about records so yes worth checking goofbay out ! Also its good to be able to find possible indicators quickly that may point to a set up although i do appreciate that it isnt allways so straight forward to absolutely confirm deffinate shannanigins taking place but a good tool nonetheless so well done fella!

This tool is very dangerous is indeed ,if someone has bought more than 3 or 4 records off you it comes up as possible shill bidding.I have sold multiple items to people, one preson on this forum has bought at least 10 records off me separately through ebay he will come up as a shill bidder if he buys anything else ,when, in fact he's a top guy.Big brother ebay gone mad
Mace Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 If I'm ever highlighted as a shill bidder on your site, expect a complaint. Not like you to complain about 'owt Joe. Do understand your point though, I have a feedback rating of 1003, which is 100% positive. However, I have over 1570 positive feedbacks, so over 30% of my transactions are from sellers I have bought from before (as one seller can only leave one feedback per buyer no matter how many transactions) As it goes, I normally snipe everything, or else I could be down on many an auction as a possible shill bidder... ...however, I wouldn't give a monkeys to be honest, cus if other possible buyers checking out goofbay are put off by the thought that I'm a shill bidder, it may put them off bidding and I might get it cheaper.... .. clouds and silver linings blah blah blah blah.....
