If you're not bothered if its a boot why not just download it?

Why do DJ's not only play records they actually own?

IE on an original release. If not then why not just play CD's or mp3's and leave the founding ethos of the scene well and truly behind

Who said it was for the Central?

To be honest I made that assumption. Perhaps incorrectly?

If it's for home consumption then that's fine.

Bootlegs, pressings etc were made so that people could own, and play at home, a piece of music that they had heard played out.

Back in the day when most music was listened to on record players then that was the norm. Nowadays most music is listened to on computers and (decreasingly) CD. So why anyone would want to listen to a piece of music on a record that they don't actually own (ie the ORIGINAL) is absolutely beyond me.
