Diane Lewis Played By Butch ( I Think)

The Jean Carter c/u thread reminded me. Did he also play a Diane Lewis tune. Not sure of title , label or even format. Think he played at our do about 12years ago along with JC. Good tune.

Any help appreciated.

    He was playing D Lewis Stafford/Post Stafford and I would be Gobsmacked if he sold it to Sam so i think the answer to that would be a NO..Top 10 Deffo

That Diane Lewis record - can you believe they chose not to release it?  Along with The Magic Touch - possibly the best unreleased side ever.

Those few years (especially 86/87) are to many the equivalent of Searling 80/81 with regards to quality/quantity of discs.

Both time frames broke a large bunch of discs that have stood the test of time on the scene...and a few still stand proud as absolute proven rarities.

Yes I have said that for years. True proven rarities and quality as well.

Exactly! It was amazing new record after amazing new record just like RS late Casino. You ran to the dance floor, but it still stuns me that many of these legendary northern soul records would empty the floor now days at events in my neck of the woods (east Mids).

We all knew of Butch as a collector but Mid 80s, Mexborough onwards he shot to number 1, no easy feat back then.

The Northern scene wouldn't exist today if it wasn't for Butch and the other intrepid sound finders.  It would be 100% nostaligia based, allnighters would not exist and of course there would be no venues playing newies.  Since the advent of cd's and mp3's, everyone was able to become a dj and own more or less every sound, so thank goodness for the few who do have exclusives and one offs, and curse the people who bootleg these...otherwise every soul event in the country would be playing Moses Snmith and Epitome Of Sound.

Strange how we agree on most tunes but not all. I was very disappointed with Butch's Diane Lewis. He was good enough to dig it out and play it for me at Burnley along with many more that I had only heard about from Cliff and Stuart. I personally think that the Diane lewis is far more poppy than the Jean Carter, but everyone to their own.
