Two different pressings exist of this reord: The Caprells "Hey Girl / Deep Love" (Bano 101)
Does anyone know if one of them is a boot, or if one was pressed before the other?

I don't think this has been booted. Mine is the darker variation of the two scans but I've seen other releases by the Caprells on the lighter label and they are originals. i absolutely love this record.

The Dixon family (out of Pittsburgh) made up the Caprells .... and they owned / ran the Bano label.

Guess they pressed one version of the 45 up to meet local sales and when it took off over a wider geographic area of the States, they did a 2nd press.

Some of their Bano cuts were picked up for national distribution by Ariola America Records.

Lots of info on the group on another current thread.

i'm pretty sure there are no boots, they had quantity of original presses of all titles up until they ran out recently.

If this is the case, then I think the light green label variation might be the 2nd press which was made to meet the increased demand. I am basing this on the fact that a lot of these unplayed stock copies that surfaced a while ago were the light green version. However, I am not sure of anything. Just guessing.
