Northern Soul Uk Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 (edited) Being a collector and a lover of US Motown related demos, I have recently come across this. I have never seen one or to be quite honest heard the song before by the Temp's. It was apparently recorded by the 'Isleys' too. The 'B' side is 'The impossible dream'., and the 'A' 'Born to love you' is just Heavenly. Edited May 26, 2013 by Northern Soul UK
Pete S Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 There's a fantastic reggae version by Derrick Harriott from the late 60's. I know that one more than the Temps.
Modernsoulsucks Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 Off Temptin' Temptations album.45 is an old US boot. They did a few titles at the time. "Can you love a poor boy" Miracles was anotherRobbK will know.ROD
Northern Soul Uk Posted May 26, 2013 Author Posted May 26, 2013 WOW! I thought it looked different to my other Demos, but couldn't place why. Thanks for that Rod
Soul-slider Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 (edited) There's a fantastic reggae version by Derrick Harriott from the late 60's. I know that one more than the Temps. Also done by Slim Smith and a few other JA artists. Think The Miracles did a version too? Edited May 27, 2013 by Soul-Slider

Northern Soul Uk Posted May 27, 2013 Author Posted May 27, 2013 Pretty comprehensive history of the song, excellent, thanks
Britmusicsoulfan Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 I'm a bit obsessive when it comes to Motown/Tamla/Gordy/Soul 45s. Even if I have a M- copy and I find a nice demo copy, I'll always buy it (as they are usually cheap and oftentimes mint in the States). Cheers, Tim 1
Northern Soul Uk Posted May 27, 2013 Author Posted May 27, 2013 Yes, it's a US Boot from the early 1980s. Rob, have you any idea how many were pressed up?
Robbk Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Rob, have you any idea how many were pressed up? I don't know. But it's quite rare. I'd guess no more than 500. 1
Northern Soul Uk Posted May 28, 2013 Author Posted May 28, 2013 Copies not £££ I don't know. But it's quite rare. I'd guess no more than 500. Copies not £££
Robbk Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Copies not £££ Copies not £££ I meant "copies". I have no sense of humour (despite being a comedy writer). 1
