Jim G Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 Just been in the loft to dig out my Blues and Soul and Black Music mags (from 72-77) and found three copies of the Owl's Effort, issues 4,5 and 6. They date from '89 and I forgot I owned them. How many were there? Oh. and are they worth much?! They are a good read and will be my bedtiime reading over the next few days..

Bigsoulman Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 They were written by the nutty Richard Domar, he's still got copies to sell these days...I think but issue one is sold out, basically a good read but for gawds sake don't phone him and ask him about them....the phone conversation will probably go something like this... ring ring......Wot hi is that Richard Domar? yes do you still have any of you're mags left? yes how much? silence are you still there? yes well? well wot!, how much for the mags? it tells you in the catalogue but I don't have one silence more silence so you won't tell me how much then? silence have you got the telly on in the background? yes...seven of them can you phone back in 10 minutes when this race if finished? erm...yeah ok So I did'nt phone him back, but I did send for his catalogue and bought records from him but the phone conversation we had is rather unprintable, welcome to the strange world of Richard Domar, he's worth a thread on his own! So lets hear YOUR stories! Lenny
Pete S Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 (edited) I wrote an article for that magazine, the biggest article anyone has ever written for any magazine I should think (link to it below) https://www.raresoul.co.uk/blackmusic.html anyway like I said, it must have been about 14 pages long. I didn't even get a free copy of the mag sent to me n.b. most have you have probably read that article anyway but the spelling errors were caused by the scanning software Edited May 25, 2006 by Pete-S
