The Yank Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Trust me there are more horrible U.S. commercials than this. I was happy they used the song for the ad.
Andreas B Posted May 21, 2013 Author Posted May 21, 2013 I'm a yank too, though living in Denmark now. A friend pointed this one out to me and had to share. Its certainly an update from that terrible "baby back ribs" song... 1
Bazza Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 I know I will be in the minority on this ,but I like Wendy Rene -Bar B Q Bazza 1
Guest Garry Huxley Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 I think it's a top tune real nice uptempo happy go lucky dancer allways a floor filler. Wendy start in music buisness was recording jingles for radio & tv advertising and this song was recorded to promote head of stax records anual staff bbq at his house.
Andreas B Posted May 21, 2013 Author Posted May 21, 2013 Had no idea, Gary, thats real interesting. So then her music has come full-circle with these ads?

Guest Garry Huxley Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Had no idea, Gary, thats real interesting. So then her music has come full-circle with these ads? Ironic isent it Hope she gets the royaltys as stax was forced into liquidation so probably all goes to the IRS. the knowledge comes from reading all those sleeve notes over and over again and doin more digging on net. Good post Garry
Northern Soul Uk Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Great track and as aformentioned, always a floor filler.
Back Street Blue Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Always loved it.....got it as a ringtone on my phone....it identifies my mate Big Paul (22st +)........he likes a barbecue
boba Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 This is a non-tasteless (if not tasteful) use of a good song, I'm glad they got the placement and someone got paid. Also, lol @ the "baby back ribs" song, that was terrible. I was offended by "keep on pushing" as the basis of a long-form lebron james samsung ad and was glad it only ran for a few weeks. Very tasteless and offensive imo.
