Unknown "You Can't Mean It" Unknown "My Life's Changing" Unknown "You Always Put Me Down" Unknown "If It Makes You Feel Good" Unknown "Watch Yourself" Unknown "After All This Time" Unknown "You Just Left Me Memories" Unknown "We've Got Nothing To Hide" Unknown "Only A Matter Of Time" Unknown "I'm Uptight" Unknown "No More Bad Feeling" Unknown "As True As Can Be" Unknown "It Can't Always Be" Unknown "If Only They Knew" Unknown "I Just Can't Go Back" Unknown "All The Love I Need" Unknown "My Baby (Ain't Going Nowhere)" Unknown "Just Can't Let You Go" Unknown "The Spy Trap" Unknown "Everybody Knows (I Love You)" Unknown "That's What I Need" Unknown "I'll Never Let You Go" Unknown "You're Breaking My Heart" Unknown "Mine And Only Mine" Unknown "Just Keep On Loving Me" Unknown "Love's Got To Be Right" First one cold be Curly Moore. Watch Yourself could be Tony Hester. Just Keep On Loving Me could be Lee Jennings or Steve Mancha or the Halos??
KevH Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 (edited) I'm uptight - Paul Sindab.? Watch yourself - could have been Al Gardner? You're breaking my heart - Dream Merchants.? Assuming these are the real titles. Edited May 19, 2013 by KevH
Chalky Posted May 19, 2013 Author Posted May 19, 2013 Paul Sindab was a Wigan spin so we sorta discounted that one. Watch Yourself could be Al Gardner or Tony Hester, Eddie Hubbard gonna check a few things later. Dream Merchants possibility. 1
MrsWoodsrules Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 (edited) Just Keep On Loving Me, Steve Mancha, Groovesville?? Aid. Edit: just seen the bottom of your post Chalky, I see you had it down as SM. Edited May 19, 2013 by MrsWoodsrules

Cunnie Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 I didn't realise how much modern Pat played till I began gathering the tracks for his podcasts. Edwin S Wales Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Unknown "You're Breaking My Heart....George Pepp perhaps? 1
Chalky Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 Unknown "You're Breaking My Heart....George Pepp perhaps? Ey up Edwin, nah it's the Dream Merchants. George Pepp was a George Sharp spin at that time, he got the first copy from Tim Ashibende. 1
Edwin S Wales Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Cheers Chalky...I remember George Sharp playing it,but didn't know who'd played it first. Off topic....is George still about?...he used to play some cracking tunes 1
Chalky Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 George has been to Lifeline a couple of times, Cleggy and other places. He DJ'ed at Radcliffe recently. He is on face book and here as Monkey.
Gold Band Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Always Loved the Johnny Curtis Track = Johnny Curtis - The Soul Kind Of Love (Sumpter 1100) Top Blue Eyed Northern with a Great Instro Break About 1:40 in. Kirsty
Gold Band Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Oh And Was The Mine & Only Mine Track the Bill Lucas C/U - Cause I Know Your Mine on Dionn 502 Thought It was Covered as Jock Mitchell Chalky Kirsty
Chalky Posted May 23, 2013 Author Posted May 23, 2013 I have Bill Lucas on tape as Gene Mcdaniels. Keb could have used Jock Mitchell as well as he had a habit of covering stuff up with two names. Have him on tape where he does that at least twice in the same set
Chalky Posted May 23, 2013 Author Posted May 23, 2013 Just checked Kirsty and it was covered as Jock Mitchell. Dunno why on the tape I've got he played it as Gene McDaniels, i'll have to go back and re listen when I get the chance? Pete Lawson sold it to Keb and even Pete says he covers it as JM. 1
Chalky Posted May 25, 2013 Author Posted May 25, 2013 Two plays for Pat. The Twans I Need You and Carl Carlton "Pretty Little Girl". What were they? Was Carl Carlton Junior McCants with wrong c/u title? From a review Jock did at the 2 1/2 anniversary.
Simon T Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Two plays for Pat. The Twans I Need You and Carl Carlton "Pretty Little Girl". What were they? Contessa Was Carl Carlton Junior McCants with wrong c/u title? From a review Jock did at the 2 1/2 anniversary. If you're listening to a recording I did at Stafford, he introduces it as CC "hey little girl, we're in love"
Chalky Posted May 25, 2013 Author Posted May 25, 2013 Hi Simon. Did Pat get Contessa from Guy or Guy from Pat? I've always assumed LCC was "Hey Little Girl, We're In Love". It is on all the recordings I have on tape etc.
Simon T Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Hi Simon. Did Pat get Contessa from Guy or Guy from Pat? I have two tapes with Pat playing it at Stafford & another Bradford or Rotheram but I can't remember which is which; one he plays it as the Twans, the other as 'The Contessa' I'm pretty sure P Brady had it first. Do you know where Rob Pheasent got it from? I've always assumed LCC was "Hey Little Girl, We're In Love". It is on all the recordings I have on tape etc. Have you ever seen the colour drain from anyone? Queens Hall: Nigel Parker - 'that little Carl Carlton of yours sounds exactly like Junior McCants doesn't it Pat? Pat Brady - ' erm yer, it's does doesn't it' ............'but, but, but it's not' ....cough, splutter
Chalky Posted May 25, 2013 Author Posted May 25, 2013 Cheers Simon, I'll add it to Pat's list. Don't know where Rob got it from? I'd love to have been there when Nige said that
Sheep Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Spy trap, there was an inst theme from a BBC program called Spy trap, came out on uk BBC own label, this got played at other venues, could be that .
Chalky Posted May 25, 2013 Author Posted May 25, 2013 Spy trap, there was an inst theme from a BBC program called Spy trap, came out on uk BBC own label, this got played at other venues, could be that . I don't know mate, I have e-mailed Pat so hopefully he will remember. I took little notice of many instrumentals, especially some of the bad ones as I'm not a lover of them, especially where a vocal exists.
Chalky Posted May 25, 2013 Author Posted May 25, 2013 Just had a surf, the theme tune is by Quator and released on BBC records. Can't find one to listen to though.
Sheep Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Really fast, have a copy somewhere, was played out around 76/77.
Godzilla Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Spy Trap is an updated version of Keith Mansfield's Men On The Move. There's also a cover by Adventures of Parsley - a band specialising in reworkings of 60s/70s TV and film themes. I don't think the Quator record would really interest anyone other than theme tune/library music heads to be honest.
Gold Band Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Chalky, Did you ever get a reply from Pat & if you did can you enlighten some of us? Kirsty
Chalky Posted June 2, 2013 Author Posted June 2, 2013 Not yet Kirsty, he was away on a buying trip and he will no doubt be busy with Brid but I will remind him. I will let you know if he remembers any.

Rich Buckley Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Cheers Chalky...I remember George Sharp playing it,but didn't know who'd played it first. Off topic....is George still about?...he used to play some cracking tunes Am with Guy having a pint and he confirms Tim A discovered it and George Sharp played it first after Guy had given it back to Tim, but deffo George Sharp first play... Rich P.s Edwin, Guy says ey up! 1

Guest Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Pretty little Girl wasn't Gene Chandler was it? Or George Smith on Laurie, though he certainly doesn't sound like Carl Carlton!
Chalky Posted June 6, 2013 Author Posted June 6, 2013 I think we pretty much discounted George Smith over on the Stafford facebook page. We was wondering if Jock heard right and it was actually Hey Little Girl which Pat sometimes used for Carl Carlton (Jnr McCants)? I can honestly say I never heard Pat use or have any tape recording etc to back up that Pretty Little Girl was Jnr McCants.

Chalky Posted July 25, 2013 Author Posted July 25, 2013 (edited) No Kirsty, Pat can't remember without listening and as I have no soundfiles not sure I ever will unless someone who hasn't read this reads at a later date and it jogs their memory. I will keep plugging away at it though. Edited July 25, 2013 by chalky
Chalky Posted July 26, 2013 Author Posted July 26, 2013 Unknown "As True As Can Be" This was covered up as the Seven Souls. Have just found it on a live recording and trying to remember what it is. Will upload somewhere this weekend if struggling. 1
Chalky Posted July 26, 2013 Author Posted July 26, 2013 I've sorted the cover up names for the list, I will update the list sometime today or tomorrow. Might jog some memories hopefully.

Have you thought about asking if anyone has any nighter tapes from that period and even if PB doesn't introduce them you may be able to deduce the records and match them to those on the list above.
Chalky Posted July 29, 2013 Author Posted July 29, 2013 I've asked countless times for tapes from the period. The tapes and recordings I do have there isn't many of Pat but what I do have I think I have the details. I am going through them as and when time allows. Most if not all are on my mixcloud page. I don't have sound files for the list either, they are from written lists.

Well keep up the good work and tell PB he should have been a bit more imaginative with his C/U names; I bet there's more Joe Mathews C/U's than JM records!
Pete S Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Chalky I used to have a handful of Stafford tapes but they got lost in a move, but I know who does have some, cos he got them for me - Rob Pheasant from Willenhall. He goes on ebay and youtube as Robin Of Sherwood should you think it's worth contacting him. 1
Chalky Posted July 30, 2013 Author Posted July 30, 2013 Cheers Pete, I will give Rob a shout when I get the chance.
