  • why dont you buy Joe Tex — All the Heaven a Man Really Needs — Dial, just as good, I think better, one on here for £15 quid..   M

I said that to Dave Thorley. Apparently his daughter who owns the rights is a real nasty piece. Three thousand miles of water would'nt stop her if she thought you had ripped her off.

:hatsoff2:  Joe Tex is absolutely brilliant Mal, unfortunately the price tag you put next to it will ensure it stays under the radar, how many records are like Joe Tex, James Brown "People wake up" is another that springs to mind that should be massive, suppose we've been here before, but will never move any further on

surprised joseph webster hasnt been booted by now...

I thought it had Mark. I'm sure it's been released as it's been played at my local oldies night, and I'm certain none of the Dj's there have an original.

I Cant stand Joseph Webster,  if I had to choose something similar in sound, I'd go for Joe Tex every day.. and you would pay £4k for it, your clearly mad...

It's nothing like it though. Joseph Webster is a very special record.

Im sure I heard this years ago on a cassette which I can no longer find, the track did stick out. Can anyone in the know tell me if the B side is the instrumental because it was on the cassette?

:hatsoff2: Tis usually the crux of the matter Dave, nobody will tell me that Joseph Webster is a better record than Joe Tex or for example Innervision "Honey baby be mine"

Can't agree to that Dave. I would love a copy at £15. Again I think it's all down to what type of records you enjoy. I'm looking at it from a dance music perspective. As soon as I heard it I thought it was very special, and I didn't know it was rare at that time. The same goes for the Little Major Williams 45. Instantly I thought, Wow, what a tune. and don't forget I'm not a fan of 70's music at all. Dance floor Viagra.

ahhhh, there's another one, good backing but I don't rate the vocal, Maybe its a dance floor 'Scene' thing...

I'm not looking to knock everything you say mate, its just taste at the end of the day.. I just find the amount of money that's attached to some of these tracks mind boggling, given that some, not all, really are no better than a fifteen quid record, I'm excluding the rarity factor there of course...oh well, some you like, some you don't..

did Frankie who started this thread, ever get any joy... :hypo: Poor sod..thread highjacked, and every-bodies given their two pennith about something he was obviously excited about...

Absolutely agree mate, it's all personal opinions at the end of the day. I'm not really a soul music fan, I just love what we used to call northern. If it makes me want to dance and it's soulful, then it's fantastic in my book.

I once bought the Dave Godin's deep soul treasures Cd. I had to phone the Samaritans when it had finished.
