Guest Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 (edited) I use the Record Collector standard to grade my records — as below: M is ONLY for reissues / new releases / sealed records M- is a pretty much unplayed record for me — any obvious signs that a record has been played and I usually downgrade to an Ex+ EX+ is a very strong grade for me — just showing some signs of being played but no noise / cue burn / crackle / styrene burn at all. VG+ is for records that have obviously seen some wear and have had a good few plays and may even have light intro crackle but play very, very well. VG is for records with quite a bit of wear and surface markings and some noise / crackle but still a very good player VG- is my lowest grade and VG- records for me are in bad shape — lots of sound quality deterioration and many, many surface marks — not nice. All media links are directly underneath each item inred — just hover your mouse over the link and when it turnsblue click on it and it will take you directly to the YouTube page or my own soundfile / scan. ***************************************************************** 7"s: The Dells ‘Your Song’ (20th Century / UK / 1980 / M-) £50 ( Unplayed, big ‘A’ demo copy of this all-time classic Northern / Modern Soul dancer….in correct custom sleeve… ) Johnny Bristol ‘Love No Longer Has A Hold On Me’ (Ariiola / UK / 1980 / M-) £8 ( Beautiful copy of a Modern Soul anthem… ) Leo & Sherry ‘You Are My Everything’ (Barbara Jean / USA / 1980s / M-) £375 ( Unplayed copy of this stunning Modern Soul rarity — my first-ever copy… ) Shirley & The Shirelles ‘Look What You’ve Done To My Heart’ / ‘A Most Unusual Boy’ (Bell / UK / 1969 / VG) £5 ( Slightly rough copy — lotsa surface marks and some slight crackle — but — plays thru clean on both sides — two great cuts here — topside is banging NS and flip is a dark wrist-slasher… ) Al Wilson ‘Show And Tell’ (Bell / UK / 1973 / M-) £5 ( Immaculate copy of this evergreen midpaced MS dancer — best version…. ) Tony Clarke ‘Landslide’ / ‘The Entertainer’ (Chess / UK / 1974 / M-) £12 ( All-time classic double sider… ) Julia Dewitt ‘If You Want Your Man’ (Cord / USA / 1972 / M-) £40 ( Very fair price here nowadays for this sublime Femme Sister Funker / Souler — both sides well worthy of your love — STONE MINTER…. ) Cassandra ‘I’ll Never Let You Go Out Of My Life (voc/inst)’ (Decca / UK / 1977 / M-) £25 ( Massive Lovers Rock tune — just a joy — sounds like a Dennis Bovell joint to me?
